Odd App Store Update Page

MIA (Missing In Action).

If it isn't us, it is on Apple's end for the Mac App Store. It is a web page in an app, just like the iTunes store. Therefore it is missing its CSS for this generation of Mac App Stores. 10.11 is also doing the same thing. A few weeks ago it was just fine. I know lots of Mac users using 10.11 or 10.13, so this will effect lots of people.

10.14 is a different version of the Mac App Store, with its own CSS, and is therefore unaffected.

I have seen no evidence that it isn't on Apple's end. I hope they fix it but since it isn't "supported", they might not. They did fix the web end for the Apple TV 1st Gen several years ago to make it last one more year, so there is hope. That took a full month before it was fixed and many people contacted Apple directly to complain.

Okay that kinda weird.

I was trying to find a way to fix that without any hope, I deleted;

com.apple.appstore

com.apple.onboarding.appstore.bundle

CommerceRequestCache

and I rebooted, and App Store update is now fixed.

I can't guarantee this will work, since I was so sure I wasn't able to fix that, but like, wtf now.

Both of my MacBook and MBP 2015 running high Sierra encountered this too ! Its quite annoying. So I upgraded to Catalina, and problem solved. woohoo~ I think its time to move on for me.

Looks like Apple nuked the CSS for the updates page for everyone running 10.13 and down. It isn't that hard to keep it around to keep the product looking decent. I guess this is how the Mac App Store goes eventually, unlike Software discs that keep on ticking and look perfect.

I know that macOS High Sierra is not supported anymore but the App Store in macOS 10.13.x fails to load CSS in the Updates tab. The other tabs load fine.

Almost identical in 10.13.6, normal in 10.14.6---

FWIW, it's the same for everyone running High Sierra or earlier.

This remains a problem on each of my devices.

It is clearly a Server-side problem as a result of how the App Store is feeding the layout design for this page.

(As noted, other pages in the App Store do display correctly.)

Thanks for your feedback... but it looks they consider worthless to fix it as our computers and their OS’es are considered « unsupported ». Pure laziness IMHO.

It is still unfixed. I really thought by now they would fix it. Keep the feedback going to Apple. With enough pressure they should get around to it eventually.

Looks to me like the CSS for the page is now MIA. It is a web app and as a webmaster, it looks just like that sort of problem.

Same as like in older App Store like Lion & Snow Leopard, in 2019 (before Big Sur release) old App Store should have a good page until Big Sur release, it will change to broken page, sad.
