Since iOS 14.6 update iPhone's battery drains while my smart battery case remains fully charged

14.7 fixed the 14.6 activation issue for me. No new Smart Battery management features. 14.7 holds the phone battery at 100%.

14.7. 1 and if they had any battery case issues. 14.7 corrected the issue from 14.6 on my iPhone SE

iPhone 7 - issue solved already iOS 14.7 and iOS 14.7.1 didn't come back

It's marked as solved because this is a community forum, not a fix ticket system. No system fix yet. Reboot your phone or reattach your case to begin charging. I'm not sure what battery level to get down to before rebooting but it worked for me at 20%.

Was a solution found to this issue. At the time I initially downloaded 14.6 I had an iPhone 8 in an apple smart battery case. It had worked fine up to that point. After the update to 14.6 it exhibited the behaviour described above: it would charge fine but feed no charge to the phone unless I manually disconnected and then reconnected it to the phone. I took it back to apple and they replaced the smart case. At the same time I bought a new iPhone SE (2030 Ed). When I set up the new phone it downloaded iOS 14.6 and the replacement battery case exhibits the same behaviour. Must be a software bug?? What’s the fix ??

My iPad Air started to have an issue with the charging port after this update. It’s the 2017 generation. It would only charge at certain angles with certain cords I thought the update killed the cords. Have tried using the original cord and block? What fixed the iPad got me was I got some of those cleaning things that look like tooth brushes on Amazon and cleaned the charging port . Also maybe clean where the phone makes contact with the case. If not hopefully it’s under warranty.

Check your iPhone 7's battery health. It could be that your phone's battery is coming to the end of it's life and is in need of replacement/service.

Salve, anch'io ho lo stesso problema Iphone7 e Battery Case dopo l'aggiornamento alla versione 14.6 il battery case non funziona più come prima, due alternative nel caso del mio IPhone 7 devo eseguire il DFU ovvero reset del telefono premendo tasto del volume basso e tasto laterale oppure togliere il battery case e rimetterlo speriamo nel 14.7..

Its totally a 14.6 issue. Luckily I downgraded to 14.5.1 before they stopped signing it any my smart battery case works as it should. I'm hoping for a 14.6.1 or 14.7 to fix this supper annoying problem soon!

Same issue w my 2020 SE. what I fount that works for you me , is charge it overnight . Sometime the next day pull it out the case , wait ten seconds and put it back , then it shows phone being charged by the case.

I find it's easier on your nails, fingers and the case itself to just turn the phone off and then on. I do this every morning after taking it off the charger. It works good and I find the apps I use work better after the power cycle too.

If everyone else with this issue, took the problem to an Apple store and reported it, so it gets reported down official channels I think Apple will address it quicker. As it’s an ISO 14.6 software problem, which Apple have yet to acknowledge. I can’t believe this was not spotted prior the update testing , before being released. It can be seen a cynical way for Apple to make use of smart cases obsolete? Not a good way to treat loyal customers.

I know it’s not easy finding an official Apple store to report this, as a lot of people get their phone via online or phone networks. But going face to face with an Apple department, is more likely to get the concerns raised here dealt with more effectively. Contacting Apple’s customers services would be another option. Email, phone, tweet as you say. But the person will a facelesss contact.

Well the weird thing is that I tried the case on a friend’s SE (with iOS 14.7.1) and it works fine. So maybe there’s a problem with my phone (lighting port, battery..)? I’ll bring it to the Genius Bar and see what they say.
