I just updated my iPhone 7 to iOS 14.6 and since then the iPhone's battery drains while my smart battery case remains fully charged (ps. I did try all the steps stated in other articles).
Does anyone have a similar problem? if so do you have any solution?

Yes indeed. Had reported this issue at Apple Support. After iOS 14.6, the smart battery indicator no longer appears at lock screen the moment u plug in/unplug the charging cord, and the iPhone apparently draws power from the internal battery instead of the case. Remove/re-attach the case seems to be the temporary solution. The issue did not occur prior to iOS 14.6, i really believe it’s a iOS bug. Hope Apple Team could investigate & rectify it asap as it’s quite a serious issue.
I’ve had the same issue . Charging case is not recognized by the phone. Before update it used the case first and then the phone battery. Now it’s showing my phone being charged by the battery case. T

I don't think it's a hardware problem as the iPhone recognizes the smart case battery as an accessory when inserted and the battery percentage of the smart case battery is also visible in the notification center.
I confirm that I have the same issue since the update 14.6, it is impossible to charge the cell phone and the battery case together. If i plug both( iphone X + battery case) and the lightning cable into my battery case, the iphone wont charge only the battery case while you see both icone of the battery and the iphone charging
visited Genius Bar over this exact issue. It was imagined that the 14.6 update adjusted the battery usage sequence so as to improve battery health & life for the iPhone. That said, there was no mention of this in the iOS update. Anticipate Apple weighing in on this issue in near future. Stay tuned…

This is my first day ‘testing’ the Genius Bar’s assumption & sadly to this point I have to agree with you. Presently my smart battery case is 99% & my phone battery is only 15% & still decreasing!
I agree that it is the update; my case is also new and never had a problem. Customer service was friendly but needed a lot of convincing to get past the software/hardware issue. I pointed out that software had to be involved for the Widget and Lockscreen settings to be automated when plugging the case in. I wish some news would come out about it publicly since so many people are posting about it. My phone is running down to low power mode every day.
Mono, are you certain that your problem is actually fixed? My phone also shows the case, and show it being charged, but it seems to think the phone is the case and vice versa when it comes to using power. In other words, using the case, it will go into low power mode at 20 percent phone battery while the case remains at 100 percent, completely unused. It always used to keep the phone at 100 percent until the case was used; now it’s doing the opposite and powering the phone down first. We never get to actually use the power in the case; the phone will completely power off first. If you allow your phone to sit long enough to start to get low, see if this is happening for you too, please.
I have IPhone 6s and same issue with my apple smart case percentage indicator not showing on any scree for apple smart case, i agree bad show for apple not doing checks on accessories someone should get reprimanded for such a basic error.
My iPhone 11 did the same thing. It appears my phone remains 100% charged and the case gets depleted. I know this because I can charge the case independently of the phone. Apple really screwed this up. I hope the developers will fix this soon. I sometimes use more than a days worth of charge for what I do. I will try some of the solutions presented here.
I am also having this issue same phone same case only after I ran the update. It does not recognize the smart case battery at all. I tried the hack above and it’s still not working. This is very frustrating. It is not a hardware problem as the case was fine prior to the update. Can I undo the update? Has anyone tried?
This is not a solution...Why is this forum posting it as a solution when it is not?.. The problem persists as soon as you drain either your phone or your case. This started exactly after updating to iOS 14.6
I am having exactly the same problem, had the smart charger case for 2 years now and is brilliant, would not be without it. However, following the last IOS 14.6 update, the phone does not charge from the case. The phone will run out of power while the smart case battery is 100% - Crazy
My question to Apple - When are you going to fix this bug in IOS 14.6 Please ????
Any progress yet on this bug? My phone battery dies but the case never kicks in even thought its fully charged. The lighting bolt is in the battery icon on the top right corner even when its not on the charger. Weird but Apple needs to fix this asap!!!
