Even if i turn off dolby and reinstall my music it doesn't work...

this is pretty unacceptable of apple, people pay for this stuff...

idc about the spacial audio or losless audio, but if this problem isn't recognized any time soon, I might switch to spotify or deezer. Just want to listen to my songs offline

I’ve had enough, apple has had more than enough time to deal with this. For the last month and a half I haven’t been able to listen to my music at all. I’ve tried all the BS steps I have read about multiple times. I’m tired of deleting and re downloading my library. I spend all my time in my vehicle driving and haven’t been able to listen to music I have purchased. Why on earth am I paying a monthly subscription to a service that doesn’t work at all. Sorry but 15 seconds of each song isn’t going to cut it for me. Absolute joke. Effective immediately I’m done with apple. Good luck everybody. Suck it apple

14.7 fixed the 15 second problem. Update your phone. However, for me at least, even with Atmos always on in the settings, it still doesn’t work for me. I don’t get any issues with the 15 second drop off anymore, but for some reason both Atmos and lossless don’t work for me when trying to stream Atmos tracks. Lossless only tracks work (as long as I don’t have a 256 version downloaded of the same track…which is another issue I made a support question about, but I digress), but Dolby Atmos tracks don’t have a Atmos or lossless emblem upon playing. Really f’in annoying trying to navigate this crap.

I've been following this issue since the beginning. Thought I would post what's happened to me in case it's happening to others as well.

The update to 14.7 did not work for me on my iPhone 11 Pro Max. Lossless tracks over wifi and cellular still stop at 15 seconds.

However, since converting all of my iTunes purchases over to Apple Music since the announcement to lossless tracks was made on June 6, I've noticed some interesting things:

1) Only my purchased tracks from iTunes that I am streaming in lossless stop after 15 seconds. Does not matter if they are played over wifi or cellular - they stop after 15 seconds. If these same tracks are downloaded they play fine.

2) Any track that I add to my library directly through Apple Music, that was not purchased through iTunes, plays lossless fine over wifi and cellular and with all Atmos options enabled.

3) Since the 14.7 update I've noticed that only my purchased tracks from iTunes with a "release date" from the artist that was AFTER September 1, 2019 stop after 15 seconds when streaming lossless over wifi or cellular. All tracks I purchased from iTunes with a release date prior to September 1, 2019 play fine in lossless.

So, if an album/song was released by the artist to iTunes after September 1, 2019, I have the 15 second issue - even if I bought the album/song in say, January 2020. If the album/song was released by the artist to iTunes prior to September 1, 2019, I do not have the 15 second issue regardless of when I purchased the album/song.

4) Since the 14.7 update when these same tracks I purchased on iTunes after a "release date" of September 1, 2019 are played, I now get an error message when the track stops at 15 seconds that says, "Cannot Decode - The media data could not be decoded. It may be damaged." I did not get this message with 14.6.

5) Since the 14.7 update any track that I add to my library directly through Apple Music, that was not purchased through iTunes, still plays lossless fine over wifi and cellular and with all Atmos options enabled.

6) I am able to play all tracks if lossless is turned off

7) I am able to play ALL music over lossless with no issues over my MacBook Pro and AppleTV.

And while I do see a lot of posts that say 14.7 fixed the issue, it probably did if your main source of music was streaming/downloading strictly through Apple Music.

However, if you happened to buy your music through iTunes and recently moved to Apple Music in that last few weeks to past 10 months, I encourage you to play those tracks you purchased in that time frame, and have now since uploaded to Apple Music. I bet those tracks still stop after 15 seconds in lossless with 14.7.

Still some work to be done before this is fixed for everyone.

The issue is back. I did all the recommended corrective actions and it worked for 2 days flawlessly. I wake up this morning and try plying songs and same s***, I get 15 seconds of a song and it stops.

Apple, can you really not figure this out? I know how much of a pain it is to abandon this service and go with another(more expensive) service but what the **** am I paying for a service that doesn’t work at all. That’s it I’m done. Good luck everyone

Mine has been rock solid and I think one of the other posters is on to something. I have a collection that goes back to the 90s with mp3s and iTunes purchased etc. it occurred to me maybe it’s trying to figure out the DRM on these songs. I left the iTunes preference to sync library on. So I selected every song in my library on my computer and then chose - remove from library. The songs are still on my computer and then I deleted all songs off my phone. And resynched the phone. It worked but not perfect. Then iOS 14.7 and no problems at all.

so far!

I finally just turned all this Atmos/Lossless/High crap off on my iPhone, restarted it, and now the songs are playing w/o interruption. Another "work in progress" new feature from Apple that will have to be resolved in future updates.

But it makes me laugh now when I see the TV ads promoting it...I guess they're only 15 second long!

I’m 100% with you. I switched from Spotify to Apple Music because I wanted the Siri functionality in it. Now Siri works with Spotify. I’m paying Apple one at 15$ a month. I’m getting very irritated that I’m paying for this and it’s working half a**. The only reason I haven’t switched back to Spotify is because I haven’t wanted to sit down and find a conversion app and spend 2 hours downloading my 800+ songs. Pretty soon I’m gonna have time and sit down and switch back. This issue is becoming very very annoying.

I had exactly the same problem, tried EVERYTHING suggested on this forum, then I turned off Lossless On my apple tv 4k and it fIxed it. No problems before Lossless was introduced . . Better sound with Lossless but it needs fixing. The older the recording the more likely it will stop at 15 seconds is my experience. Apple sort this out pronto please.

I didn’t have to sign out. I just went in to my apple 4k tv then Settings>Apps>Music>Audio Quality>High Quality (Instead of Lossless)

The 15 seconds wonder only happens on my older stuff, new albums are fine.

Apple needs to sort it out but I don’t know how to action that outside of going to an Apple Store - which I will do next time im near one, or perhaps ring up and wait forever.
