Downloaded lossless songs stop at 15 seconds every time

iPhone 11 latest iOS, all downloaded lossless songs (data for Music is off) stop playing right at the 15 second mark. When on wifi, no problems at all. Non-lossless songs also no problem. It's only with lossless songs that are downloaded to the phone. Anyone else? Didn't happen yesterday or even this morning, that's the odd thing. Also tends to freeze up the app to some degree as well.

Doesn't matter if it's directly on the phone's speakers, bluetooth, or usb connection to either car or home A/V receiver. Same problem.

Did this in airplane mode, too... same problem. Force quit the app.... same problem. Restarted the phone.... same problem and then hard restarted the phone.... same problem.

Only thing left is to wipe the phone and restore it from my back up.... last resort only.

Anyone else run into this?

Hey there Jimborewski,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We understand you’re having issues with lossless songs quitting at 15 seconds. We’ll be happy to help.

Before restoring your device, delete the Music app from your iPhone, restart, and then reinstall the app. You’ll have to download your songs again after this.

Let us know if this helps.

I have the issue since day 1 the lossless music released

Tried many ways/ time as per the Apple support stuff over phone :

-Reinstalled music app

-Switch on / off about the hi res / lossless options

-sign out / in Apple ID. (Very troublesome )

it was OK just few hours but all fail next day again and again .

the only stupid way to overcome this problem is to switch on “ mobile data “ for those downloaded music . It sounds extremely ridiculous for Apple product / IOS/ App….

I’ve had the same issues- I thought it was just me. Daily I’ve been deleting the files and re-downloading, did a hard restart of my phone, and I continue to have issues. I cannot find the non-lossless files in ITunes anymore, so I guess we’re stuck with music that doesn’t work. I hope there’s a software update being worked on.

Same issue here. I have the iPhone 12 Pro Max with the AirPod Max. Never noticed any issue with offline/downloaded music until Lossless. I downloaded several Lossless albums onto my iPhone and played them fine while on LTE/5G/WiFi. But I recently flew and put the iPhone in Airplane mode. Now, Lossless albums cut off on every song at the 15 second marker. Lossy albums play fine. Only seems to be an issue when there's no network connectivity or Airplane Mode.

After deleting, redownloading, and deleting it again, I think I may have found the solution - for me at least.

I turned off Cellular Data on the Music settings, and downloaded the songs via WiFi. After that, I turned the phone off, and turned it on again, put it on Airplane mode - and the Lossless songs played fully!

Granted, I can't stream using cellular data, but then again my iPhone is used totally as an iPod rather than a phone so it's not a big problem for me.

Hey man turns out we’re all not alone, I had this same exact issue and almost destroyed the phone I have now over the rage but it’s just a easy fix, just delete the app and redownload the music but before you do that, go into your setting and make sure all of that Dolby atmos and lossless audio nonsense off it’s completely useless and it doesn’t even work with Bluetooth connections, but hey good luck man👍🏽

Still the same problem. Somebody from Apple tried calling me about it, but I was on vacation. So if apple wants to try again, feel free. However, everything that has been mentioned as a possible fix in this thread I have tried. I am not going to waste my time downloading my library of music multiple times and have it fail on me again within a day if not immediately. It’s past time to fix this bug which is clearly a widespread problem.

Meanwhile, my iMac, which had played all Lossless songs flawlessly up until now, suddenly started skipping over them entirely. It was hard to believe Apple hasn’t fixed this problem that has plagued their flagship service for 2–3 weeks, they’re allowing it to get even worse. All that without a single word acknowledging the issue, let alone a resolution. They’ve changed music forever, that’s for sure—and not for the best.

Same here. I've TRIED everything !!! Couldn't get it to work and it's frustrating. I didn't hard reset the phone though to be honest because it's a huge hassle, however I did uninstall the app and downloaded all my music again, which took a huge time to finish, and the problem remained. Wanted to get a refund for what I've paid but couldn't.

I got a whole new phone and it is still happening to me. I downloaded the music with standard pre-set settings and immediately ran into the issue. I removed the music app (and all downloaded music). Re-downloaded the music app, turned off ATMOS Dolby and turned on Lossless. Re-downloaded music. Worked for about 6 hours and then it started doing it again.

It seems to do this for all my older music, when I actually had to purchase them. This is frustrating because I am on vacation driving in a lot of places that doesn’t have WiFi and can’t listen to any music.
