Can't upload songs to library for iTunes matching

I can't upload any songs to my library for matching at Itunes match.

Uploading song has status - trying to match at Itunes Store.

And this status isn't changing at all.

Changing accounts, using other wifi networks - nothing helps.

The Problem began at Thursday. Before that day everything was OK.

Oh - and there is NO problem with downloading already matched songs.

Well, I wanted to waste two hours of my life and I sure did by trying to contact Apple support regarding the issue. They made me try the typical things of log out / log on, uncheck iCloud Music Library and recheck. I even did an uninstall and reinstall of iTunes since a service agent found a communities post saying this fixed the issue back in 2019. Nothing helped as we knew it wouldn't. Almost like they couldn't comprehend that Apple might have an issue with their service. (But the iTunes Service status is Green on the website? lol) I tested loading an album into iCloud (an album previously already matched that I had downloaded and was fixing meta data prior to re-importing into iTunes Match) and 6 out of 18 matched but looks like the process timed out and 12 are now in the "Waiting" iCloud Status. Only thing I can do is either delete them from the library or select File -> Library -> Update iCloud Music Library and hope more match or upload. So far not making much progress as the Library Update usually times out with no progress after 30 minutes. My recommendation would be to not mess around on your side and we just have to wait this one out. Maybe more tickets open will get supports attention.

Chatted with support and was told everything on Apple's side is working fine and that there's nothing they can do. Not sure if there's any way to get someone at Apple who can actually help involved, as the first-level support folks aren't willing to do much other than to blame your network connection.

Again I have ITM but not AM. Now when i try to upload things that i know will not be matched I am getting the dreaded:


 Genius results can’t be updated because the iTunes Store doesn’t recognize your iTunes library.


I have a library of 60K songs most of which are matched. is it safe to sign out of itunes and sign back in? will it recognize my songs that are already matched? Should i wait until they fix the matching problem?

Thought it was about time I added my 2p/c for support as I've been keeping an eye on this thread for a few weeks because I've been having same issue for while, match just freezes at 'Matching songs with iTunes store' with the progress wheel at almost complete. the occasional song would get through with me leaving on for a few hours each evening but on the whole nothing was happening. My Annual renewal came up on 5th August, needless to say I cancelled the auto renew a few days before and apple wont be getting my money again until it's sorted.


Running iTunes (Downloaded from Apple, and Windows store) on Win10 PC in the UK, built by myself last year (Ryzen 3200g/16gb Ram/A320 board). so no old hardware/software here issues. Uninstalled/Reinstalled and drivers updated, not running VPN. Everything Checked my end to no resolution.


Will be checking this thread periodically to see when they sort it as I've been using Match for years and would hate to lose it, but if it don't work I'm not paying for it. :)

A hopeful sign - I just tried matching again and it is acting different than it has the last couple of days. Previously it would show that, once it got to the matching stage, the "progress wheel" would get to a certain percentage done and stop. Today it doesn't even start. Perhaps that means it is offline and getting fixed! Here's hoping!!

I recently became an Apple Music subscriber (but still have a few months left on iTunes Match, so just letting it ride). The matching function (which is a feature of both) isn't working for me, so I'm assuming it's also not working for Apple Music subscribers as well.


Edited to add: if you browse the Music forum, there are multiple complaints from Apple Music subscribers about imported music not syncing across devices. Interesting that Apple still hasn't admitted that there's a problem.

Were all of your tracks uploaded, or were some successfully matched? I just noticed that several of my tracks that have been pending since yesterday were successfully uploaded, but the remaining (about 85%) are still "waiting."


Edited to add: A few of my tracks that were "waiting" are now "matched." Maybe those emails that some of you sent to Tim Cook and Eddy Cue worked. :)

Hi, unfortunately it seems that the issue is still with us, matched a couple of tracks, now stuck at just under half a red circle stating "uploading remaining songs and artwork" - same issue as the past 3 weeks and 5 days - APPLE NEED TO FIX THIS - i have 90K (out of a possible 100K + Apple purchased music) songs and cannot add any more at this time (unless they are not in the iTunes store to buy or stream - then they upload ok, albeit slowly)..... Been using itunes match since it was launched 10 years or so ago. Always had some bugs but never anything like i am experiencing on both my Hong Kong and UK iTunes accounts AND Apple aren't even responding to my requests on a follow up to my case id's. Dreadful customer service to be honest - was great for the first 2 weeks and a day but now....... nothing! NO RESPONSE at all - getting very tired of this and considering alternatives to what was a great product at a reasonable price.....

Yes, I'm wondering whether I spoke too soon. I added a new CD with 16 tracks just less than a hour ago. It seemed to get stuck right at the end of the matching process as before. Then I quit the Music app (I'm using a Mac) and reopened it. Almost immediately 11 of the 16 tracks showed as matched. Now, about 5 minutes later, they are all matched. Not sure, but perhaps I should have just waited. It's 2am here so I will check some more tomorrow.:)

Hi, worked for 10 minutes - uploaded 3 albums all individually. Slow, but worked. After the 10 minute "window" (the first in almost 4 weeks) it seems as though the problem has come back. Tried 4 different additional albums now, gets stuck at "uploading remaining songs and artwork" on each one again. Will not complete and no tracks "catch", they are not playable on any other device. Maybe Apple are working on this, or maybe not! I suppose that we just have to keep on wasting hours of our lives "testing" to see if if the issue is resolved. If i have any further "happy" news, i will share it.......

Yes, things are improving. It took a little over an hour to match a new album I added (of which 11 tracks were matched and 2 were uploaded). So, not as fast as it used to be before this whole fiasco began, but MUCH faster than it's been the last couple weeks. So there is progress being made somewhere at Apple. Looking forward to this getting back to its original speed when I can then start repairing all the damage to my Library that occurred after I unsynced and resynced it (back when I was assuming this problem was related to my Library). I'm still a bit scared to dive into that whole process just yet...
