Hey everyone.. not sure if this helps but I had this issue and found that wifi settings on the iPhone automatically ses the “Private address” under wifi settings to on. So this creates a new MAC address and if you are using Mac filtering on your router (like I was) it will block connectivity. Turned this off and all started working as it was before 😊

Ok, will try this again since the mere mention of the latest os being tested is a no no.

So this issue developed on our iPhone 12 Pro MAX’s. Due to a game the wife plays, it gives a wifi needed message. Back phones are set up to also use cellular data when wifi is not connected. We also noticed that the cellular issue is also affecting zoom calls etc. In the settings I noticed the cellular settings was not showing my carrier. Valls and Texting was iffy too.

So I got out my 6s. It has iOS 14.2 on it. Pulled the SIM card from a 12 and put it in. At first the 6s did not see the sim. So I restarted the 6s with the sim in it and everything went fine. I manually turned off the wifi on the 6s and all is good too. Input the SIM card back into the 12 and bang, all good. Carrier shows in the cellular settings too. So I turned off the wifi and checked to see if the apps would pull down data via cellular. Yup. So I repeated this on the other 12. Same deal. A side note: both 12’s started having problems shortly after the 14.7 update. I went thru all the suggested fixes on the support page. Then I upgraded the iOS to (can’t say it) to see if that would help. Nope. Then I ran my SIM card test today. I will know more if it is a stable fix tomorrow but for now bango, it works like a phone again! And now I have 8 missed messages to tend.

I my opinion, the 14.7 is borking the sim cards either directly or thru something in the phones but I do believe it is the iOS and once it does it, it changes something related to the sim card that putting them into the old phone undid. This would also explain why a new sim would work for some and then fail.

Hope this helps. If it doesn't stay fixed I will repost. Sure hope they address this in 14.8.

My wife and I are having this issue as well. It is absolutely not the router/ISP and clearly an iOS bug. Neither of us experienced this this issue prior to IOS 14.7.1. Once you toggle the WIFI, reboot, whatever it works again. However every time we return to the house and our phones re-connect to the WiFi, the issue shows up again. We have also not had any issues with any other device that utilizes the WiFi. Hopefully this will be resolved with ios15 official release.

Check your WiFi Router / Modem for --> Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points ...

Connecting to Wifi is the first part and then getting connected to the Internet is the second

  1. If you connect to Wifi, doesn't necessarily mean you are connected to the internet. If you are not connected to wifi could be a problem with iPhone settings or Router/Modem Settings
  2. If you are not connected to the internet is the sole issue of Router / Modem Settings. Contact your ISP immediately

For your Internet connection.

  • Over Cellular: contact your Carrier (Cellular Service Provider). The agency who issued the SIM to you
  • Over WiFI: Contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider), the agency who provided the Internet Service on your Modem/Router to you

I have a very similar issue since I updated to iOS 14.7.1 (iPhone X).

Basically I'm always connected (the wi-fi icon is always there, with full signal) but there's random moments, during the day, when things (apps, webpages, etc.) just won't load even if wi-fi is showing as connected.

So when that happens I have to turn wi-fi off and then back on from Control Center... and it starts working again.

This happens multiple times during the day and it's very annoying.

Apple Support on Twitter suggested me to reset network settings and to delete any VPN app, I did that but the problem is still there.

My father has the same phone (iPhone X on 14.7.1) and he's also having this issue.

My brother has an iPhone 7 Plus (on an earlier iOS version) and he has no problems, so this makes me think that there's something wrong with 14.7.1.

You and dogcow needs to understand this is an iOS update issue!

I have same issue now, wifi keeps trying to connect without success.

There seems to be an error when you open info for a specific Wifi SSID, then going to bottom option HTTP PROXY it is saying Manual but should be OFF. But whenever you try to change Manual option to OFF or Automatic it goes back to Manual.

What a bug!
