tvOS 15 airplay issue

Apple TV 4K iOS15 and Apple TV HD ios15, Bose Soundtouch 20&30 (Airplay 2 support installed), Apple Airpod |Pro;

Please yell if this should be a new issue, but it is an issue with the Audio and this is the correct audience. Specifically redirecting audio.

With IOS14 on Apple TV, login to any app, sound from TV, start streaming something, swipe down to access the Audio option, there is a list of available Airplay 2 devices as well as my airpod pros. With Apple TV + IOS15, same scenario does not list any airplay 2 devices. (Airpods force a notification onscreen saying they are nearby and can connect , I can live with that).

With Apple TV + iOS 15 the only method I can find to reroute sound to my alternate device is to access the Video and Audio settings within the Settings App->Video and Audio->Audio Output->Temporary Audio Output, select the device you want to use. Rather painful process.

I'm hoping I've missed some configuration option or that this is actually a bug. If this is an intentional redesign, its horrible from a user interface perspective. iOS14 behavior is much much better (at least for my brain)....

Once updated to iOS 15 on my iPhone 11 and tvOS 15 on my ATV4K, I can’t airplay music or video from my iPhone to the ATV or mirror to the ATV. I just get the error below.

Both devices are on the same WiFi network and the Airplay settings on both devices seem correct.

yeterday, I update my apple4ktv to tvos15

after updating there is sync problem with bose soundtouch20.

both them using etherhet to share wifi and on same router.

also when I select output for audio ( bose ) first of all resolution decreasing and a few seconds later audio sync problem occurs

Have any idea ?

ps: I do not have usbc on appletv so I can not downgrade :(

I do not understand why we can not downgrade. Update for soundbars do not solve our problems, we can use it previous versions of apple tv but not 4k tv

may be downgrade is the best temporary solution but we can not do it :(

Similar situation here after updating to tvOS 15. Video stutters/freezes for a fraction of a second every few seconds, progressively lagging further and further behind the audio. The audio seems to play in real-time from what I can tell.

Ayrtonoc - how do you find the shairport-sync Airplay 2 program to work thus far? My airplay receiver is also a Raspberry Pi running shairport-sync and until now it's been bang-on perfect for a few years now. I'd rather not upgrade just for the sake of getting my apple tv to cooperate but alas, here we may be unless apple fixes support for Airplay 1 devices.

I tried downgrading the OS on my apple tv to tvOS13 but the netflix app no longer supports that OS and I can't find a signed copy of 14.7, which I'd love to revert to.

You must search the developer branch of shairport-sync for instructions on build that for airplay2 support.

It's not a fully implementation, but good for streaming audio: has limitations regarding MacOS and Windows so after inspecting this issue i've reverted to master branch of shariport-sync, that doesen't support airplay2 and, obviously, lags.

You could do a trial and told us if even in your case the workaround works

My strange volume control was happening even when I deselected the TV from the output list. The ATV did stop outputting audio to the TV but the volume control on the remote was still trying to turn the volume up and down on the TV which is sort of like a ghost effect because the actual overall perceived volume did not change but I got a visual of my TVs volume going up and down as opposed to the airplay volume and visual changing.

Interesting note about letter after alfa. Didn't know! I'll prepare for my last post to be removed :)

(Sorry if I missed the point, but pressing the “TV” button on ATV remote produces a menu with option at bottom to select AirPlay devices (don’t know if it omits airplay 2 as I only have - what now seems to be - a useless Airplay 1 speaker….

I have exact same problem. I use Airplay to stream audio to an external amplifier (Hegel 360).

I have also this issue. I have an old amplifier connected to an Airport Express Version 1. This router only supports airplay 1. Can someone at Apple please attend to this problem in tvos 15.

My post was removed because of the B-word (it didn't belong in this forum Apple replied) but upgrading solved my issue. Try that!

Same problem. I went through extensive troubleshooting with escalated Apple support and provided them with logs.
