Replying to myself, with additional info. You might need to also reset your network settings after disabling the Protect Mail Activity and Hide My IP.

Settings/General/Transfer or reset iPhone/reset/reset network settings.

if you look at the Protect Mail activity description it says it’s using a multiple proxies. Then add Hide My IP and now you seemingly have put a bunch of hops and relays in between yourself and your email and then hid your IP so if it could get to you after all that, you are still hiding from it.

The features sound good and cool and it would be great if they worked (and maybe there is some Apple Techno Magic they do to make it all work some how), but I think if you want speed, you can’t turn on all the blocks/hides/reroutes just yet and expect it to work like it did before.

I am still having the same problem on my iPhone 12 Pro Max. It is rather infuriating that this has continued to be an issue through the last couple of iOS updates from Apple, which naively I expected they would address. Like you, I am close to abandoning the iPhone for a competing device. There are many, many threads on this from a lot of Apple users so this is not an isolated problem. I give Apple one more update to fix or this will be my last iPhone.

I’ve been having all sorts of sluggishness on all three iOS devices we own, iPhones and iPads. It is beyond frustrating and the fixes suggested don’t fix anything. Of course they don’t!

There is no question about this. The reason is the iOS has become way too cluttered with useless features that makes the system clunky. Too many features that are confusing and not really helpful. But I guess Apple needs to keep on adding gimmicks so it looks like they are improving iOS. The reality is that as the system matures, there is only so much that can be added which is useful and the extra code will just drag the operating system down more than improve it.

My device is now fixed having done what I reported, so it’s not true to say “…the fixes suggested don’t fix anything.” , what is true is that whatever you have tried so far hasn’t worked. If you haven’t done so already I recommend speaking to Apple Support for as long as it takes for them to fix your problem.

I have been using Mac computers since around 1986. For the first time in 36 years, I bought a Windows/Dell laptop. This mail situation is just one of many examples where the common issues of many users are ignored. I have no problems reading my Apple Mail now through my PC or on my phone using Outlook. Sad…never thought I’d buy a PC.

My wife is one of them. She’s not tech savvy and this email address issue is costing her, literally, she’s missing deadlines on work.

often, I check emails and refresh - it takes a long time but shows it is up to date at say 10:00. Then I check again at 10:30 and emails come in with a time stamp of for example 9:45.

29 years I’ve been using Macs and Apple

so it is hard for me to switch to anything else, but my wife hates the system. Issues are piling up and this is not the only issue.

Its a cliche, but this situation would not be possible under the original founder. Miss you mate.

Doesn’t not make any difference here with wifi on or off.

Apart from mail being slow, on iPad, I often find it is unresponsive for several seconds do when I switch to mail. I’m getting these window options on the bottom, a useless feature for me which I just ignore, and when I click on a message or something it does not respond immediately.

Yes still not working, updated to 15.6, rebooted several times, even deleted the Apple mail app and reinstalled, this is really shocking service, my work emails come through via Outlook with zero issues, but I’m missing personal emails for hours at a time or just can’t open them because of this which can causes me great issues

I updated today. Like everyone else my Mail app is still painfully slow.

Apple obviously doesn’t think this issue warrants much of their time. They do think however that spamming me with unwanted offers for free 3 months of gamecentre and Apple TV is a good idea. Really hate this direction. They make their billions, fine, and they want to make more, that’s fine too, but please fix what is broken before trying to extract more money out of my pocket.

I did the last update and held my breath, but the problem still arises. I have noticed over time, that ordinary written emails come in as normal, but it is the occasional email from certain online companies that suddenly hang as they try to come in. They are obviously larger emails with a lot of content. When this happens, you can't open ordinary written emails until the large email has finished downloading.

I am not a tech and so just can't understand why this is happening, or more to the point, why everything was fine and suddenly changed.
