Mail is slow since updating to iOS 15

What is causing email to download so slowly that it has virtually stopped since updating to iOS 15?

The fix for me was disabling Protect Mail Activity. Settings/Mail/Privacy Protection/ and turn off Protect Mail Activity and Hide IP address. Now checking Mail in the app works as fast as it did in ios14.

When I updated to Ios15 one of the options I remember getting prompted for was more privacy around Mail so I said yes. It works so well apparently you can’t check or send gmail accounts in a reasonable time frame with the iOS mail app.

I tried most of the other things in this thread before hand and nothing worked. Try turning off that new feature for now and see if things start working better.

Yes still not working, updated to 15.6, rebooted several times, even deleted the Apple mail app and reinstalled, this is really shocking service, my work emails come through via Outlook with zero issues, but I’m missing personal emails for hours at a time or just can’t open them because of this which can causes me great issues

I updated today. Like everyone else my Mail app is still painfully slow.

Apple obviously doesn’t think this issue warrants much of their time. They do think however that spamming me with unwanted offers for free 3 months of gamecentre and Apple TV is a good idea. Really hate this direction. They make their billions, fine, and they want to make more, that’s fine too, but please fix what is broken before trying to extract more money out of my pocket.

I did the last update and held my breath, but the problem still arises. I have noticed over time, that ordinary written emails come in as normal, but it is the occasional email from certain online companies that suddenly hang as they try to come in. They are obviously larger emails with a lot of content. When this happens, you can't open ordinary written emails until the large email has finished downloading.

I am not a tech and so just can't understand why this is happening, or more to the point, why everything was fine and suddenly changed.

I have been experiencing the same since updating to iOS 15.6.1 and others at my firm. Does Apple have any recommendations? It seems to be more widespread if multiple users are reporting the same.

It is not an issue with storage available as I am using 45.2 GB of 128GB; I am mostly connected to Wifi as I work from home. I have performed all the basic troubleshooting as well as removed my firm's MDM ( MobileIron ) and re-installing it, and it's still the same. It is sporadic in that my email seems fine at times but is mostly delayed in loading when I try to open the new email.

Is Apple going to address this issue that is obviously related to the last 2 software upgrades? Mail worked great before the update…now it’s incredibly slow…mostly hangs on updating mail. I have 200gb of free space, cache is clear, I have deleted and reinstalled the mail account, I have consulted every tip and trick….nothing helps….

Is Apple going to do anything to rectify the problem that they have created with the last 2 software updates? Or does Apple just not care? Email worked really well before the update…I have removed privacy settings, reinstalled email multiple times, cleared network settings, reset network settings, etc…etc…etc… I am on fiber optic network with very fast settings…search functions are normal, however email is ridiculously slow…like taking 5 minutes to download one email. I can go straight to my services site but as it is designed for a computer and not a smart device all functions do not work as well. I would prefer that Apple fix their issues and quit making garbage suggestions that don’t work.

Slow Email on both my iPhone XS Max (16.1.1) and iPad Mini 4 (16.1.1). Only affects my Gmail account (Spectrum, Live, iCloud Accounts perform quickly). I tried disabling Privacy Protection and uninstalling/reinstalling the Apple mail app with no improvement observed. Gmail updates when fetched on schedule but manually attempting a fetch by dragging down on the Email header list results in a long displayed "Checking for Mail..." message in the mail app.

It seems that Apple just doesn’t care….fine, they’ve been on top for awhile….if they’re okay with losing their customers and going down the tubes that’s okay with me too…too many other options out there. Let the software people run the company into the ground….they obviously don’t care about us…the people that buy their equipment and pay their salaries.
