CAR Play Issues after IOS15 Update Cannot Load SiriusXM Or Amazon Music

Even though I can start the Sirius XM app on my iPhone and play a station when I go to the app on the car's radio screen and hit favorite channels I get a message that It cannot load Sirius XM I have to go to my phone to change the channel.

Same with Amazon music I can select a track on the iPhone but if I trying to open the app on the car radio screen gives me a can not load amazon music.

My head unit is an Alpine ILX-W650

These apps worked prior to me updating to IOS15

Found a solution on Reddit that worked for me. Disable/turn off EQ in Settings>Music. I had a 12 pro with equilizer enabled and it worked fine even w IOS 15. However, the new 13 pro max would not play any music apps on Carplay until the EQ was turned off. Hope this helps others. 2021 Honda Accord wireless carplay and 13 pro max. Such a random setting...I would have never found it.

Sad to say that Apple support is talking out of their behinds when they claim your car’s CarPlay module needs to be updated. 🤦🏻‍♂️ If that’s the case- that for every single car out there. We have an Audi and Hyundai and are having same problem. I was able to find a fix with the Apple Music by selecting NO EQ on setting. But still did not fix the Sirius XM, Audacy , pandora , and all other music streaming app.

I had a XS max with iOS 15 in it and carplay worked fine with my Pioneer DMH-2660NEX. I got my 13 promax last Friday and updated the phone to iOS 15. Tried to use carplay on the same headunit and it shows connected to carplay until I try to launch any streaming app. I have found that this is also an issue with my GROM usb adapter as well. It seems related to to the device with the new iOS update, its weird that it work fine with the XS max and not the 13 ProMax. I've tried the phone settings reset and headunit reset, nothing seems to work. I even contacted tech support and was on the phone with them while attempting the fixes they had suggested. Here's a picture of the error from my headunit as soon as you try to launch a music app. I tested and found that all the navigation apps work. Apple music, You Tube, SiriusXM, Spotify, etc do not launch and shows the error below.

Same issue in my Ford Explorer with Sync 3. Apple Carplay worked perfectly until I updated my phone to iOS 15. Given that it's a widespread issue, we'll just have to wait for Apple to sort it out.

On a side note about switching to Android, as a former Android Auto user, don't switch as Android Auto is way buggier. Since I switched to an iPhone Pro Max 12, it's been flawless up till upgrading to iOS 15.

I have this same issue with Iheart radio, Tunein and Audacy showing as an app i can select but then I pick it to load, I get a blank screen with just the 3 apps showing on the left. When I launch SiriusXM, it will say "unable to load" and I will click try again and it will load.

There are a few apps like Radioapp and Simple Radio will load...

IOS15.1 is a mess!

I revert to IOS14.8, everything is normal but I cannot pair my Iwatch with 14.8 installed.

Same issue with Carplay on BMW iDrive 7.1 I frequently used net radio apps like Mytuner Radio, Radio.net, Country Music Fm etc. They all worked fine until iOS 15.0 arrived. Since the update, all net radio apps show: "unable to load stations" or "unable to connect". The same goes for some Podcast apps like ARD Audiothek.

Apple successfully took down all net radio apps in Carplay. No recommended fix works. Nor the 15.0.1 update. It is a shame.

This thread is aimed at the SiriusXM and Amazon Music Apps not connecting in Favorites and Search. The Apple Music is hit and miss for everyone on every phone. There is no work around for the 2 most affected apps. It is an IOS issue.

By coincidence I am having the OS in 2020 X5 updated tomorrow. I'll report back if there is any change but I highly doubt it. The change for me will be duel screen in Apple Maps and Android Auto availability.

As the update to 15.0.2 didn't seem to help with iHeartRadio, I decided to try one more thing. I deleted the app from my phone and reinstalled it. Then, lo and behold, the CarPlay interface was working again. However, it didn't last. The next time I plugged it, it was back to not working. I plugged in later on, and it was working again. I have a feeling it will continue to be temperamental until one of two things happens: (1) iOS 15.1 gets released, or (2) iHeartRadio updates their app (their support person claims that the next update appears to, supposedly, fix the problem). As frustrating as it is, it seems I'll just have to deal with it until then.
