iPhone 13 notification sound too low

I got my iPhone 13 3 days ago, after using it for 2 full days, I realized that the notification sound is way too low. It applies to WhatsApp, iMessage, email etc. Even though I set all volume to the loudest; and googled how to fix it online then tried everything posted on the internet but still didn't improve.

I changed from iPhone XR to iPhone 13, but my iPhone XR with iOS 14 was perfectly fine, the notification sound was very loud with no issue at all.

Hi Joey_Chan_HK,

From your post, it sounds like the notification sound on your iPhone 13 is low. Let's try the steps mentioned here: Adjust the volume on iPhone - Apple Support

Do you have Do Not Disturb enabled? Have you checked each app's settings individually to make sure that notifications are set correctly? Do you have a Bluetooth device connected to the iPhone? If so, let's double check to make sure the audio isn't being pushed to the Bluetooth device.

Take care.

So I have an i13 and it was driving me crazy. I called support based upon this discussion and they made me download the latest update. After that, I called back and the support person talked me through literally 25 different things, like turning notifications off then back on, and all kinds of weird stuff that I didn’t really pay attention to because I assumed it was just something they have to do. Then we sent a test and it still didn’t work. I hung up, frustrated, restarted my phone, and it mysteriously started working and has been working ever since. I have no idea how it happened but I’m thrilled. That was Thursday morning Dec 30. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Just returned my I phone 13 pro max today because of the notification volumes. I use it for business and it was so low I was missing texts and e mails. Had to constantly check the phone which is not what I expect when paying over £1300 for a phone.

Gone back to my Samsung S21 Ultra.

Guy in the Apple shop wasn’t even interested in trying any solution just refunded me my money.

very disappointed in Apple!!!

Had I phones for years up until about 3 years ago when I tried Samsung. Thought I’d try an I phone again and was very disappointed. It’s not only the low notifications I had an issue with. No battery percentage on the main screen unless you want to have a big widget. I use my phone as an alarm and yet no symbol telling you the alarm is set at the top of the screen so had to keep checking. I paid over 1300 for the 512gb and as far as I’m concerned a total waste of money. Samsung s22 will be out soon so I’ll go for that. I phones seems to have gone backwards and the things I mention should be standard stuff on any phone. Very poor in my opinion !!

hi, i just had a genius bar appointment at regent street london today ay 13.40 , i have complained about low sound notifications and lock sound,i had all the settings correct including attention aware feature off. they have run diagnostic and sound check, everything is perfect according to apple tech. so the problem is not the phone or the hardware, issue behind the problem is software, they are hoping there will be a software update for apple 11-12 and 13, apple tech also reported my complaint to head office i have also mentioned there are thousands of us complaining on discussion group and also all over the internet sites, hope this will help

You should all do what I did and return the phone. Over £1300 for a phone where you can't even hear the notifications!! That should be the absolute basic a phone should be doing in this day and age. Absolute garbage and a total waste of money. From what I'm reading this isn't only the iphone 13 it's also a problem with the 12 and apple haven't done nothing about it.

Either Apple is not telling the truth when they say they are unaware, or else they just don’t want to know. I spent half an hour on the phone with tech-support about two weeks ago before I didn’t have enough credit to continue the call. But I gave them the information they needed to connect with this discussion group. So either they ignored it Because they didnt want to know ,or they ignored it because it was too much trouble to address.

I also purchased an iPhone 13 Pro Max. I issue with the message tone was driving me nuts as well, so I decided to try different tones, and tested each one. I did find one that I like that works. I turned off my Apple Watch to make sure that was not interfering with the phone, it was not. So, long story to say, try different tones and test them. Also, I turned on Silent Mode and them turned it off and noticed the ringer was all the way on low, I turned it up and all is good now with the new tone.

The problem of "iPhone 13 notification sound too low" is solved on my phone. The steps are:

1) Go to Settings

2) Select Sounds & Haptics

3) Find RINGER AND ALERT, Activate Change with Buttons.

Then you can adjust the ring tone volume by the volume buttons to what you want, much loader than before, or as normal as my old phones.

Updated iOs to 15.2 (19D50) and the low sound for alerts is STILL not fixed. When you scroll down to select another sound in the timer app, the preview of the sound is loud (controlled by volume setting), but when you set the new sound and then run the timer again the sound is muted just as before. If your volume is set to 50% or less, it is basically inaudible by the human ear. If your volume is set to 100%, it is basically whisper volume. For me text alerts and the alarm volume are fixed, but the timer end sound is STILL not working correctly.

ANSWER -- SOLVED

Got to Settings--Accessibility--Face ID & Attention and turn "Attention Aware Features" OFF. If this is set to on and you are using the phone when an alert is triggered, the iphone when locked will lower the volume of "some alerts." Setting this to OFF made my iPhone 13 work the same as my iPhone 6 used to work--volume "sticks" for all alerts.
