Navigation voice volume in Apple maps is missing in iOS 15. It is annoying to hear the map whispering the direction if I play music in my car. I don’t even use the Apple Music app. I use Spotify. How on earth can Apple bring back the Navigation voice volume in Apple Maps.

The trick is to adjust the volume on the *car* radio while Siri is speaking. The CarPlay app will distinguish to adjust that volume rather than the music volume. You’ll even see a different icon on the volume bar when adjusting during that time.
This doesn’t work, at least with my car using BT or USB connection. Adjusting the volume during the navigation’s guidance also adjusts the music volume. They are not independent.
It’s actually more simple than it seems. Just head into any directions in the map, a volume icon will pop up, after you touch it voice commands will go away. Hope this helps.
this is the very feature that this thread is discussing. you're not using iOS 15 if this is what your maps app looks like.
The version is now 15.2.1, and they still haven't found and fixed this frustrating bug.
Open Waze on your phone.
Go To My Waze, bottom of the page. Then settings, top left.
Voice and sound, scroll down to Guidance Volume.

This is not correct. Adjusting the volume with the side buttons is global. It will also make the music play louder. There should be an independent way to adjust the navigation volume, but it was removed.
I'm having the same issue since updating to iOS 15. The "Navigation & Guidance" feature is completely missing. Besides this issue, a few apps have crashed or frozen and also, one of the apps is flickering when I scroll up and down. Super annoying. Hope Apple will fix soon.
I found that this is not true, at least when it comes to my vehicle (2017 Nissan Altima) and Apple Music with Apple Maps or Google Maps voice nav. Apple Podcasts volume is about the same as the voice navigation. It seems that Apple Music needs an adjustment.
Yes, this is so annoying! In the Apple Map app, I used to be able to change the volume navigation to something like Loud/Normal/Low/No voice. Since iOS15, I cannot find anywhere to change the volume of the voice navigation, and it’s really irritating. I really hope Apple change/fix this!

Aside from the navigation voice volume control missing, I have noticed I also cannot control the volume of music being played in the Amazon Music app - the volume buttons on my iPhone 13 Pro are unresponsive. This is really annoying, as I should be able to adjust the volume of the music being played using the side buttons.
I also don’t have CarPlay. I connect my iPhone via an aux cable to my car stereo. I like to use Apple Maps at the same time as streaming music from Amazon Music. I hate no longer being able to adjust the volume of the navigation voice directly on my iPhone - the voice now drowns out my music. Only workaround will be using Google Maps or TomTom instead of Apple Maps, which I’m really not happy about.

It is amazing to me for the cost of this device that the product managers would sign off on removing intregral functionality and all the while ignoring that a search for "vol" brings up areas in maps that no longer exist. The obviousness that this severly denigrates the customer experience with maps and music (or other audio applications) can not be overstated. The ability to balance maps spoken volume up/down, with the music and/or other audio apps volume up/down, streaming or otherwise, is essential. This is especially true when driving, as distracrting audio behavior is a hazard. Fix this in the next few sprints please.
You’re missing the point - we don’t want to turn the voice commands off - we want to be able to adjust the *volume* of the voice commands. That way, we can still listen to music (via aux or blutooth) AND the voice commands at the same time, without the voice commands being ridiculously loud and drowning out the sound of the music.
Apple needs to bring the voice command volume controls back!
This 100%. There was nothing wrong with the old manual setting of the navigation volume, and the fact that Apple have removed it is dumbfounding. For those of us who connect via Bluetooth or Aux, we are now screwed. I am praying Apple bring this much needed functionality back!
That must be even worse! I connect via Aux, and when the nav voice speaks, it lowers my music. But, because I like to play my music pretty loud, the nav voice sounds super loud and it’s incredibly irritating.
Pre iOS15, I used to like setting the nav voice to “Low”, as this suited me best. I could hear the instructions whilst listening to my music, and the nav voice was unobtrusive. I would sometimes set it to “Loud” if I was driving a more unknown/complicated route, and I didn’t want to miss a turn. I just want that functionality back!
Apple seriously needs to return this feature to Maps. I am hoping that if there are enough posts/complaints about it, Apple will take action.
