iPhone 13 Pro won't play through car USB

I recently upgraded from an iPhone X. I’ve never had any issues playing music through the USB in my car. I have tried several times now to play music with my new IPhone 13pro and it simply won’t play. It either acts like it’s going to play and then doesn’t and even if I hit play again it won’t start, or it seems to become frozen and I have to force close my Apple Music/Pandora. The cord is charging my phone so I don’t think it’s an issue with the cable. Has anyone else has this happen since switching to the new model? It will let me play through the AUX port both use the lightning connection to plug in to the phone, I’m not sure what the difference is.

I have the iPhone 13 and was able to play music in my car through aux before the 15.1 update. Immediately after it says aux can’t be found, but my phone still charges. It has to be a software problem. I restarted my car restarted my phone nothing works.

I just played my new 13 Pro for the first time in one of my vehicles with a 6 month old Kenwood deck, using rear usb. Sounds horrible, very high pitched static garble on music. Plugged it into the front usb, sounds perfect. Tried different device (flash drive) on both USB’s, sounds perfect. Had zero issues on old iPhone. APPLE PLEASE FIX! We need an update patch. (Yes I turned off EQ and everything else listed here. It’s something about certain usb cable connections).

My equalizer was already off so I tried turning it on to a setting and restarting and then turning it off and restarting and still nothing. I plug it into the car and it's getting power but no sign of it trying to play thru the car at all. All my other iPhones worked fine until I got the 13 ProMax yesterday and can't believe what a pain it is not to have my music in my car. And it doesn't work in my truck either so it's not the vehicle or the radio or the wire! Help! Any other ideas?

It is not only happening with my apps, it's also with my itunes. Apple told me to try an Aux cord. The Aux cord works with my husband's 2011 HHR, but the Aux cord will NOT work with my car 2014 Equinox. I do NOT have CarPlay so it's not something with that. The only other suggestion they made was asking dealership about a hardware update on my car that MIGHT fix it. I looked online and many people are using a $15 FM transmitter and that seems to work. Dealership said it will cost about $100 and there are no guarantees it will work. COME ON APPLE!!!!

Yeah I have three newish cars and none of them have car play. This thread is about normal USB play though. I sure wish someone could come up with an idea to get it working for me! It has always worked fine in all my cars and my boyfriends iPhone11 still does but my new iPhone 13 ProMax 1TB doesn't. So infuriating!

Ladies and gentlemen we have drifted off topic here. This thread is NOT about Apple CarPlay. It’s about prior to upgrading to an iPhone 13, playing music, videos, TikTok’s, YouTube videos through the USB cord worked perfectly normal. Then when we UPGRADED to an iPhone 13 NOTHING worked via USB cord. Nothing worked UNTIL I updated my iOS to 15.1. Now everything works perfectly.

Listening thru a radio adapter would sound even worse than Bluetooth. If you have a headphone jack input in your car, either on the dashboard or in the center console or the radio itself then a lighting to mini audio cord works fine still and sounds great. But it runs down your iPhone's power a little instead of charging it up. It's probably right next to the USB jack in your Equinox.

Idk I tried to cut the EQ off and it didn’t work it’s really weird it’s a glitch for sure. Maybe it’s the car manufacturer maybe if you use CarPlay it will work when you cut the EQ off idk honestly if apple asks the right questions and read all the post with the most information they may be able to pinpoint the glitch. But if there is a yo-yo in charge of the issue we can forget about it lol

I have a 2012 chevy cruze which does not have carplay, When I had my iphone 12 pro max it was working fine and all of a sudden it would not play anything. I recently switched to a iphone 13 pro max and i still cannot get the usb to play anything. I used to be able to plug it in and it would say “ipod” but now it doesnt tell me anything .

At first I thought it was my car but I tried my moms phone and it worked just fine ! Ive tried updatting it, I turned off the EQ and the Dolby Atmos. It is the most frustrating thing because I always have to be playing music, the car rides arent as fun anymore )):

The only work-around for this problem I've found is to get a wire that goes from the brand new $1600 iPhone's lighting port to the audio mini-jack input plug in the car. Its the plug you see on virtually every set of headphones. It plays fine through there although it feels a little cheap and nasty to use a wire like that on such an expensive Apple pos and it doesn't charge the phone while you drive like the USB wire does. Seems like by this time Apple could at least apologize and say they can't figure out what the problem is either or something. The silence is deafening.

Thank you for the suggestion PittieMom225. I have a 2012 Equinox and the same thing is happening to me - new iphone 13. USB cord worked perfectly fine with old phone in the morning. Got a the new phone in the afternoon and... nothing. I'll try the FM transmitter and also buy an AUX cord (which I haven't used in years). Hope they find a fix soon.
