iPhone 13 keeps disconnecting from car bluetooth

Hello,

I have issue with my iPhone 13 mini and iOS 15. Bluetooth works very well - basically Spotify through the bluetooth works without any issues.

However calling via bluetooth is really issue for me. I used my bluetooth in my car and also my handsfree device. Unfortunately the situation is the same - if I want to call via bluetooth then the phone call is cancelled after few minutes (sometimes 2 minutes, sometimes 6 minutes).

Could you please fix this?

Thanks

Martin

I just bought a new iPhone 13 pro max and the Bluetooth feature is super frustrating. It connects to my Toyota Highlander but will hang up on people at random intervals as I’m talking with them. Spotify will work and then cut out as well. I have researched this issue and tried all of the recommended ways to deal with this problem but none have worked. Can you help?

iPhone 13 Pro + IOS 15.2 and Toyota Entune Radio Systems - Cell phone calls dropped after a few minutes/Audio Music works.

For All People with Toyota Vehicles (I have a Tundra SR5) around the 2016 year model and your cell phone call drops after a few minutes, here is a fix that worked for me . I disabled the "Car Play" feature on my iphone with IOS 15.2 and now it works fine. Just finished a 15 minute cell phone call. Hope it works for you and I hope Apple puts this in their notes when people call and want o know what will fix this problem. You will need to look up on internet how to cut off "CarPlay" on your level of IOS. I like for my iPhone to work with the hand free talk system because it is safer. Hope this help everyone with this issue.

I have 2010 Volvo XC70 and the hands-feee worked well with my iPhone 6S. I have not been able to use my new iPhone 13 hands-feee in the Volvo and have tried everything suggested by Apple, people in this stream, and my car manual. VERY frustrating and dangerous while driving. Am on hold right now with Apple support but don’t know how long I’ll wait…only to be told to take all the steps I’ve already taken.

At this point there is no work around or solution. I’ve given up, disconnect my iPhone from my tundra. I got tired of dropping calls, entune shutting off rebooting, entune locking up, not being able to make calls. I’m back to no connectivity and just using the speaker on iPhone. Yep, Apple 15.1,15.2 has render my Bluetooth worthless.

my hope Apple fixes the issue with a new update. If not I will have to jump ship and find another phone. I don’t want to do this, I’m a loyal Apple user.

the problem seems to be with CarPlay function. Turn off CarPlay phone work but music quits. Try to turn CarPlay back on and whole phone and vehicle radio quit. Had to stop cut it off. Delete everything and then reinstall. Now I am back to square 1 phone hangs up after 2 minutes. I guess getting another phone other than Apple product will fix it because looks like Apple want even act like it is their issue

Kevinpaul7 I can’t make a call via Bluetooth. Interestingly though I was talking to my Volvo dealer service about it while walking to my car; when I got in my car & started it up the phone switched to hands-freeI & I spoke with them hands-free…so it does work. When I finished with that call I made another call that connected hands-free but then immediately disconnected from hands-free to the iphone itself. So it worked once!

I do not have CarPlay as others have talked about.

it has nothing to do with carplay, nothing to do with the automobiles whatsoever as its every make and model vehicle this is occurring in.

The ONLY thing problem has in common is iOS 15+. Apple is the only thing that this problem has in common on a case by case basis.

Now, if only they were a more open company that acknowledged its consumers issues, we may get somewhere...

Spot on, briansmech. It’s definitely an Apple issue, and appears to be an issue in the Bluetooth implementation in iOS 15 and/or the hardware in their new phones. The anecdotal evidence is overwhelming.

In my case, I had a third-party BT audio module feeding into the aux input of my vehicle (2010 Mercedes M-class). I had performed rather extensive testing to find a BT module that didn’t interfere with the iPhone XR’s connection to the onboard handsfree telephony. When I “upgraded” to an iPhone 13 and iOS 15, the original issue came back in spades.

Apple needs to figure out what they broke, and fix it.

I happened upon this thread, searching for solutions to similar problems. I have an iphone 13 pro max, ios 15.2, and the bluetooth will not connect, at all, to anything: my apple watch, echo, or my 2020 Toyota car play. It's extremely frustrating! I've tried everything suggested, and nothing. The phone searches for devices but never finds them.

This is the most promising response I've seen. I also have an '18 Taco, and recently switched from Samsung to Apple. I assumed bluetooth calling would be as solid on the iPhone 13 as on the Samsung - but shortly started to experience the same problems being reported here. (Isn't it interesting that most of the posters have Toyota's or Volvo's - has to be something to that).

Anyhow your post about removing / reinstalling entune, and (hopefully) being prompted to update the vehicle app makes perfect sense. Will try that, along with removing any other BT connections that may be stored on the vehicle. Will post my results - thank you!

Went today to Toyota Dealership and had radio updated by a Certified Toyota Person. The iphone 13 worked for about 2 minutes on a call and then cut off the microphone. I switched to the speaker on the phone and continued the call, Meanwhile the radio screen looked like the phone was connected but the microphone connection was not working. Then the radio cut off completely - soft booted by itself and then the phone connected and the microphone came on - only to cut off again after about another 2 minutes. Looks like t fix this problem I will have to got to another cell phone brand. If Apple CAN'T MAKE IT HAPPEN AND FIX THIS ISSUE THEY CAN NOT EXPECT ME TO REMAIN A CUSTOMER. I talked to several radio upgrade companies and everyone know about this issue and advised their upgrade would not work until Apple fixed the problem. I truly believe I have proven it is an Apple iPhone 13 or an IOS 15+ Problem. Been dealing with it 4 months and Apple is nowhere to be found.

I have 2 phones (Iphone 13, and 7+), and 2 vehicles. Both phones are running the same IOS (15.2.1). The 7+ works well in both vehicles; the 13 has the same issues described throughout this thread. I tested in vehicle #2 today; same problem.

I can't believe the entire product line is defective. I'm thinking maybe a bad batch of chips, or something along that line? I really like the new phone; hoping Apple can fix the issue. I have a support call scheduled for tomorrow; will see what they recommend.
