iPhone 13 keeps disconnecting from car bluetooth

Hello,

I have issue with my iPhone 13 mini and iOS 15. Bluetooth works very well - basically Spotify through the bluetooth works without any issues.

However calling via bluetooth is really issue for me. I used my bluetooth in my car and also my handsfree device. Unfortunately the situation is the same - if I want to call via bluetooth then the phone call is cancelled after few minutes (sometimes 2 minutes, sometimes 6 minutes).

Could you please fix this?

Thanks

Martin

Try to apply this: Go to the settings --> find bluetooth --> headset --> accessibility --> touch --> call audio routing and change it from automatic to bluetooth headset. That helped to me.

I have this issue too with my 2017 Toyota Highlander and the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Every time I get in the car, it will not connect to Bluetooth automatically and I have to go through a laborious process of turning off the Bluetooth, turning it back on, and going through the car's menu to sync it again. It then will connect but it drops at least 1x during my 15 minute commute every day-- whether I'm on a call or listening to Spotify. I then have to go through the same process all over again. It is so annoying. I have tried turning the phone off and on again too.

I am interested in your saying a case on the device could cause an issue. Why would that be? That caught my attention because I have to take my case off of my phone in order to get it to charge on a wireless charger.

The alarm also does not sound on this phone. Lots of annoying problems. I'm very close to downgrading to a 12.

Okay…cautiously optimistic…I upgraded to 15.3 and have made 4 calls from my car, plus had a friend call in. Everything seems to be working so far. I will update again in a few days.

I talked to 4 Apple support people (at different times) plus a Support manager and no one admitted they’d heard this issue.

I dont understand why people keeps blaming Toyota info systems. You had BT working before iOS 15 came out right, and everyone agrees that to be the problem. Stop changing phones iPhones or paying money to have your Toyota infotainments changed by a unscrupulous dealer that wants your money. WE ALL KNOW THE PROBLEM IS iOS 15 and the following versions. PERIOD!!

KevinPaul the IOS 15.3 upgrade seems to be working. I made several calls during one driving session and received a call, all hands-free. I did notice my phone disconnected from the car after 2 of the calls but it was easy to reconnect.

Apple please correct that next ~ we can’t have our Bluetooth disconnect after a call. I was in a parking lot so it was easy to reconnect…not so much if I’m driving.

I agree with mahcolo and others. Bluetooth connection is now working, but it is frequently disconnecting at the end of a call. Admittedly this is better than disconnecting during a call, but can this also be fixed? Yesterday I placed a call, had a 15 minute conversation, then went to disconnect the call. It wouldn't disconnect. But looking at the phone it was already disconnected. So at the vehicle I attempted to place another call, which resulted in the message that the bluetooth connection was lost. Easy enough to select the pairing and reconnect.

I also agree that Apple support do not seem to acknowledge this being an issue. Each time I call, they insist on starting at ground 0. "Did you reboot your phone? When did the problem start?" etc. They scheduled a callback, which never happened. (Then I logged in, and saw that support session vanished). Followed by a survey asking about my support experience - Hah!! I am really surprised there don't seem to be any Apple experts following this forum as other vendors do in their forums.

Just my observations. Not loving Apple so far.

To add to the "disconnecting from Bluetooth after the call" issue. I've done some additional testing today. It happens consistently in both of my vehicles....but only seems to happen when the other person ends the call first. If I hang up first - no Bluetooth disconnect. If Apple developers are monitoring this forum - maybe this will help you to pin down this issue. I'm curious if others are seeing the same.

Never had this issue until upgrade to 15.3 !

iphone 13 with BMW Just randomly loses Bluetooth connection to car. Usually when someone is calling or when I am already talking to someone.

It’s not just the call that lost but the actual phone Bluetooth connection to the car. I have to reconnect the car to the phone.

Finally after 3 months and being a member of this conversation for 3 months the recent update resolved the Volvo Bluetooth connection issue. Similar to others it disconnects and reconnects now and we had trouble with voice to text. After speaking with Apple they suggested going into the setting for the Bluetooth and selecting radio as the type of connection in the iPhone settings. The voice to text now works and I have not had any Bluetooth disruptions when the end user hangs up first

KevinPaul, the last update 15.3 now at least allows me to automatically connect to hands-free when I start the car, I can make or receive a call, then after the call my car/phone disconnect. It doesn't matter who hangs up first. I have to manually reconnect and usually do so through the car (that's easier than fumbling with the phone). Drops connection after every call. I looked in my Bluetooth setting on the iphone 13 and don't have an option to choose "radio" as a type of connection. It only shows My Car as a device. What am I missing?

Folks, you do realize this has been an issue since the iPhone 12. That’s specifically for handsfree connections. It’s not going to get fixed. Try CarPlay if you have it. That used to be a workaround for BMW's, don’t know about other makes. On a broader note, this is Bluetooth. As in this is a simple technology Apple has a history of screwing up. I have yet to purchase an Apple computer since 2015 that has had functioning BT. If they can't get that right in a fairly narrow environment, the odds of getting handsfree working (or being interested in getting it working) in an environment of highly differentiated and ever changing automotive systems is asking far to much.
