Turn off mute sound on iPhone

This is a huge bug and privacy issue.

you should not make noise when you put your phone on silent.

this is absolutely safety issue at this point.

it can cause alerts to surroundings which is not acceptable.

when you put your phone on silent means no noise.

This stupid bug is causing safety issues and security concerns.

When you put your phone on silent, that means no noise should be created.

This poor setting is very harmful in some circumstances

FIX IT ASAP. DO not make stupid changes please

Who do you think you're shouting at? Apple? No. You just shouted a demand to only users on a user to user only forum, none of whom have any ability to get rid of anything.

There needs to be an on and off switch for this feature. I can see that it can be helpful to some folks but I have headphones that automatically mute me when I am not speaking. This sound gets old very quickly.

This is the most annoying feature.

Apple iPhone used to be tailored to the individual,

that was Steve Jobs vision.

The fact that there is no option to take the sound off- for all of those who don’t like it - creates friction - the opposite of unique to the individual-

makes me want to not use the iPhone any longer and I only have the update for a day ,

already looking to other phones more tailored to me , or able to be custom to me.

You should always use whatever product you feel better meets your needs. As users on this user to user only forum, it won't hurt our feelings if Apple doesn't fit that for you anymore. In the world of Smart Phones, it's either Android (Samsung and Google) or iOS (Apple) which are your two primary options. Android will surely have features you may not care for as well. Always remember, "the grass is not always greener on the other side of the pasture."

I see a lot of griping and other useless comments on this thread, but has anyone actually confirmed with Apple if it Is or Is Not possible to disable the unwanted sounds in the Phone app whenever a participant taps the Mute button during a call? I haven't found any way to do this.

Planning to call Apple support to find out if there's a setting hidden somewhere.

Please add a setting to disable sounds whenever a caller taps the Mute button in the Phone app.

This most annoying and useless feature interferes with a caller's ability to focus on the content of calls.

I can't believe Apple would add this so-called feature without providing a setting to disable it. I shouldn't have to be asking for this setting here.

There was one a time when customers could count on Apple to know better than to do this kind of ****. WTF happened?

Please please please do something to fix this.

As someone who does customer service all day on my phone who needs to mute occasionally in case I cough or need to cover a noise in my environment, this is extremely frustrating and I am sure I am not the only one.

No matter how I adjust the volume settings it is a very loud tone and obscures my customers voice for a second. Thank goodness my customers can't hear it or this phone would be rendered useless. As it is, I am not sure how long I will be willing to put up with this and, if I have to get a new phone over this, it will not be an iPhone even tho I have been a loyal apple user for many years.

I am very not happy about this.

This is the most annoying new feature you have installed and must give us an option to turn off. I mute/unmute at least 15 times during my calls and it is really annoying to the other callers. HOW COULD INSTALL SUCH A FEATURE AND NOT CUSTOMER ASSESS IT BEFORE??? CUSTOMER-CENTRIC COMPANY IS A JOKE.

Apple, I agree with others about the tone being an audible annoyance. The purpose of a quiet mute is just for that. To create a moment of silence when needed. Please revert mute to what is was prior to iOS 15 update and I’ll even accept a mute quiet option.

Apple isn't here and isn't reading these posts on this user to user forum. So Apple won't hear you at all by posting here. There's a feedback link which has been posted multiple times in this thread. Use it and you will be heard by Apple.

Apparently they’re trying to retrain us to tell people we’re putting them on mute while taking a **** or ****/washing dishes/getting ice/yelling at your kid or dog/etc. et al? It’s like 3 years ago when all of a sudden important emails of mine were sent to the drafts folder rather than sent to the correct parties or 6 years ago where all my photos on my phone disappeared and they were synced to my desktop which also disappeared and each time this happened it happens after an update.

I too am experiencing this annoying problem. I am not sure why this feature was added without the ability to disable it.

I have to talk to multiple folks during throughout the day, the need to mute during meetings is essential so there is no background noises for the speaker. However, since this unwelcomed feature; I have been accused of recording conversations/meetings as result. This annoyance is jeopardizing the integrity of my day to day business. I have searched many ways to try and turn this sound off but have been unsuccessful. At this point I want to revert back an older IOS, how can I do that? If that's not possible I will be switching to a different phone all together. I have already submitted a request to the support product feedback. What I need now along with a whole lot of other users is a fix to this problem. Please advise?
