Turn off mute sound on iPhone

Hi,

I recently upgraded to iOS 15 and when I am on phone call, if I press the mute button or speaker button ( inside the phone call/ while I am on the call), it makes a clicking sound ( this lets the person on other side of call know that I put them on speaker / hold/ mute , because of the button press sound that I can hear as well as the other person on the call). How do I fix this , or press mute / speaker buttons without making sound.

I did try sound haptics turn off, sound settings all off etc, but none of the solutions worked.

thanks so much in advance.

I need to use the mute/speaker button a lot. When I use either button the phone makes an audible sound letting the other person know I muted them. Not ideal for work meetings when I need to mute, and unmute frequently. Please fix to allow disabling this feature. It was not on the previous iPhones. This is not good.

Please please please do something to fix this.

As someone who does customer service all day on my phone who needs to mute occasionally in case I cough or need to cover a noise in my environment, this is extremely frustrating and I am sure I am not the only one.

No matter how I adjust the volume settings it is a very loud tone and obscures my customers voice for a second. Thank goodness my customers can't hear it or this phone would be rendered useless. As it is, I am not sure how long I will be willing to put up with this and, if I have to get a new phone over this, it will not be an iPhone even tho I have been a loyal apple user for many years.

I am very not happy about this.

Apple, I agree with others about the tone being an audible annoyance. The purpose of a quiet mute is just for that. To create a moment of silence when needed. Please revert mute to what is was prior to iOS 15 update and I’ll even accept a mute quiet option.

Apple isn't here and isn't reading these posts on this user to user forum. So Apple won't hear you at all by posting here. There's a feedback link which has been posted multiple times in this thread. Use it and you will be heard by Apple.

Apparently they’re trying to retrain us to tell people we’re putting them on mute while taking a **** or ****/washing dishes/getting ice/yelling at your kid or dog/etc. et al? It’s like 3 years ago when all of a sudden important emails of mine were sent to the drafts folder rather than sent to the correct parties or 6 years ago where all my photos on my phone disappeared and they were synced to my desktop which also disappeared and each time this happened it happens after an update.

I too am experiencing this annoying problem. I am not sure why this feature was added without the ability to disable it.

I have to talk to multiple folks during throughout the day, the need to mute during meetings is essential so there is no background noises for the speaker. However, since this unwelcomed feature; I have been accused of recording conversations/meetings as result. This annoyance is jeopardizing the integrity of my day to day business. I have searched many ways to try and turn this sound off but have been unsuccessful. At this point I want to revert back an older IOS, how can I do that? If that's not possible I will be switching to a different phone all together. I have already submitted a request to the support product feedback. What I need now along with a whole lot of other users is a fix to this problem. Please advise?

You need to disable the mute sound feature. This is not a good feature atall I don’t know who’s idea it was to do that. Worst feature ever

Yet another poster who never read past the first post. Had you done so, you'd know you are not speaking with Apple on this user to user only forum. No one here can turn anything off. Asking other users here to do so, gets you nothing.

Use the feedback link which has been posted multiple times in this thread.

Isn’t that sad that hundreds have posted how much they abhor this feature change but apple doesn’t read them or change wording they find offensive in them? How long ago did i post the same complaint and still nothing has been done about it? Has anybody else posted the obvious which is if you don’t like it change platforms on your next purchase? I mean they aren’t reading these or taking the client/user into consideration when they make a change to a feature end users don’t like it, right? Yet i have to sign in through apple to post here but with that being said…

No it's not sad at all. When you joined this forum, you should have read the terms of use, where it's clearly noted this is a user to user only forum. Apple isn't on this forum, so posting unhappiness with anything here is only posting to other users.

If you don't like something, use the feedback link. That is the ONLY way to ensure your thoughts will be heard by Apple. But that too doesn't mean Apple will change something. They'll just read what your thoughts are.

The intent of this forum is to ask other users question about how to do whatever they may need to do with their devices. It is hosted by Apple, but with the exception of moderators and a few Apple Specialists who provide canned responses to technical support questions unanswered by users after 24 hours, Apple doesn't participate. Its a user to user free technical support site.

For this thread the question was asked how to turn this feature off. The answer is you can't. Question asked. Question answered. There's nothing more any user here can offer on the subject.

People from all over the world come here daily to get help from other users. This forum is extraordinarily helpful to people who have questions or issues other users can help them solve. But coming here to complain about something no users can change or have any influence with Apple about is as you say useless. That's just not what this forum is for.

Apple won't close this thread. People can still post and inquire. Most often, those who never bother to read past the first post. But threads don't get closed.

However, since you know the answer, if you don't want to continue seeing emails of new responses to this thread, simply tap the Following button at the top to stop following this thread and you won't continue to get notifications of new responses.

I have the same issue. This is so annoying. They should've given this as an option and a setting to allow us to include the sound or not. Should've held off the software update because this may seem minor, but for people who are on calls/conference calls/meetings, or for work-related, it's annoying to keep having to hear the sound every single time. Apple needs to fix this, seriously. At least give an option if y'all are going to add a feature to the update that nobody asked for.
