iPhone storage says zero KB used

The built-in storage space display refuses to detect how much space is being used on my iPhone. It consistently says that 0 KB of space is being used, when the real number is obviously much higher. It won't recognize certain apps as having Documents & Data, even though some of them have several GB. Is there any way to reset this and get it to display an accurate number?

Same issue here for latest iphone SE and for ipad mini 5. Settings/ general/ about show capacity of 64 GB, and 74.38 available. So far this does not interfere with my use of either device, but eventually the false information is bound to interfere with some function. In chat with Apple support last week I was told the engineers were working on it. I am ready for an update. All my searches for this problem on the web lead to items on false report of 0 storage available. This is the opposite.

Storage report is fixed now for me. It was an annoyance, but never seemed to interfere with any other functions of the system. My concern at first was that somewhere in the operating system some function might be dependent on that measure of storage, and would function incorrectly or not at all. Apparently that was not the case, and Apple's folks knew that, so there was no panic. But it has been a bit of fun to see all the comments. Too bad we couldn't gather at the coffee shop to share our great joy at the finally seeing the issue resolved. I think I will take credit as part of this powerful movement to make Apple do the right thing. To what greater good for mankind shall we now turn our attention?

iOS 15.1 has fixed it for me too. It doesn’t update it right away in IPhone Storage as other posters have mentioned. But after you update, you should be able to immediately see that Avaiilable is less than Capacity in Settings>General>About. Previously, the Available used to be greater than Capacity! General>iPhone Storage will take some before it shows the correct value.

Please check what the phone shows in General>About. Capacity should be greater than Available (before, on phones that showed 0KB, Available was somehow becoming greater than Capacity). The value in General>iPhone Storage does take some time to update. If it doesn't fix itself, try restarting the phone. If it still doesn't work, you may want to contact Apple Support.

Check your iPhone has updated to iOS 15.1, and as others have already suggested earlier in this thread, contact Apple Support and get one to one advice from the paid staff support techs.

Considering this problem only impacts reporting of space used/available it should not impair the overall usability of your iPhone. Yes, it's annoying but most users never even look at storage allocation from one phone to the next, I only looked at mine for the first time in about 2 years when I saw these reports and I was curious to know if I could see the problem.

I was having this problem as well. Reseting the phone didint work. I just tried connecting my phone directly to my Mac (which I havent done in years) and I noticed two things:

1) I could correctly view the storage in the phone.

2) I was able to successfully update to the latest rev of iOS (15.1).

Now that I'm on 15.1, I no longer have the "iPhone Storage says 0KB used" problem when I view from my phone.

Hope this helps!

I can't update my post. The time to do so has passed. So, I'll say this instead. For the VAST MAJORITY of users, iOS 15.1 solved the reporting error on their device. And daily we see virtually no new posts about the issue, which again for the VAST MAJORITY, iOS 15.1 solved.

If you or anyone else is still having the reporting issue, instead of complaining here in a user to user ONLY forum, where Apple doesn't participate, then you are wasting your time. Instead, you need to reach out to Apple directly for help.

Let's see, there are more than 12 iPhone owners in my office. Outside of my office, I'm well known among all my friends who have iPhone as the go to guy. Every one of them had the reporting error issue pre-iOS 15.1. None of them do after installing iOS 15.1.

Sure a small sample out of the millions and millions of phone out there. But look at this forum as a barometer of iPhone issues. Since iOS 15.1, posts about reporting errors virtually disappeared. Only a very few of you are still saying you have an issue.

I can't fix the issue for you. You need to speak with Apple.

I can’t see you and I don’t know you. To be clear, I’ve retired early because I sold my share of my  communications business to a multi-billion dollar business in Santa Barbara.

I was seen as the “go to guy” globally in the testing and conformance of new devices years before they were even released. I was testing 50% of global LTE and 5G devices before they were even called that, just as people were crawling out of 3G.

My whole business and career, and wealth, was based around delivery and facts, not being a “go to guy”.
