Iphone 13 pro overheating

I barely used my new iphone which I got last Monday night 2 nights ago. I noticed overheating while I was transferring files from my old phone and while it is connected with charger. It doesn’t have protective film nor casing yet so I don’t use it at all. And now, that I’m using it for browsing AT&T website for an hour, I found it overheating again.. No youtube or other apps were used. And still without protective case.

I have noticed for past week my iPhone 13 pro overheats as well and not during charging, just regular scrolling through Fb or some activity at amazon or eBay. top half portion gets extremely hot and becomes uncomfortable to even hold the phone. should I stop by at apple location for them to have a look at it? its not getting any better

This is my SECOND time buying an iPhone 13 pro. The first time I returned it because it was getting too hot after two days of purchase. Apple wouldn’t replace it, they troubleshoot it and said it was fine. SECOND TIME buying the IPhone 13 pro, overheating as soon as I unboxed it! I left it charging alone for 5 min and I immediately unplugged it when I realized it was extremely hot! Worse than my old phone. I will definitely be returning this trash phone AGAIN. I am very disappointed having to pay full amount upfront for a brand new phone that doesn’t feel brand new. Ridiculous.

So in response to my post on Tuesday about iPhone 13 pro max overheating and wouldn’t turn on again-Apple was helpful. They ran tests on my phone in store and it wouldn’t turn on for them. They said it was a malfunction of the phone and they gave a new phone out of the box for me and if it happened again to bring this new one back. It was a HUGE issue for my cell carrier-Verizon, to connect my number to the new phone and activate it. This was due to using an actual 5g SIM card and not an E-card that was already programmed in the phone by Verizon. This is what Apple said. So everything was wiped out of all of my apps. I have had to re-enter passwords etc. New phone is working okay so far-day 2.

This is 100% correct I have had this phone for over two months now in which one month I used 5G and the other month I used LTE when on LTE the phone rarely if ever dimmed or got hot if it did it was because it was on the charger but while connected to 5g I always had screen dimming this phone is 5g Capable yes but I wouldn’t recommend it if you have 5g signal you should still have LTE and that is fast enough

I want to add to this trend. My iPhone has been working well until yesterday. The only difference from a normal day is that I made several videos from the Reface App and drained the battery to 17% which is unusual because the battery lasts all day easily most days. I had the latest Apple update patch to load in the evening and charged it to above 20% in order to install. That's when I noticed the phone getting warmer than usual. Thought it weird. Put in low power mode and drove 1/2 hour to movies charging in the car. During the movie I felt my pocket burning hot, took the phone out and it was HOT. Had the temp warning I shut it down completely, took it out of the case that thing was roasting. It did not cool down, even when switched off untill I left the 2 hour movie. Plugged in the car it was dead. Stressed because this thing is new I plugged in at home and saw the dead battery plug in symbol appear. Woke up this morning and appears to be running alright right now. I don't know if any of this rambling helps but it DOES happen and all these comments on here I believe are real. My thought is that when this device goes below 20 % something happens with the charging process. I understand it may get "warmer" but this thing got HOT. I'm in Michigan it's 12 deg it's not hot anywhere to make this thing overheat like that. I'm just glad it didn't die on me. Is anything built to last anymore????

Hello Can I asking If required to turn on Your background app refresh in iphone 13 I’m just Confusing To see in internet they said to off To save battery its true?? please answer me a good question thankyou

Background App Refresh is confusing, and Apple doesn’t explain it well. To start with, most apps on iOS devices are “event driven”. That means that something happens that is of “interest” to an app, and the app runs to deal with the event. Examples: A mail message arrives, so the Mail app runs to slurp it up. Likewise if a text message arrives; the Messages app runs to add it to the message list. A weather update arrives, so the Weather app runs briefly to add the latest information to the weather app. The same idea for the Stocks app, Find My, Apple News, dedicated news media apps, Facebook, Snapchat, WhatsApp, etc. In addition, Notifications that you have enabled also cause apps to run to process the Notification, so you know, for example, that a new text message has arrived.

All of these examples are apps that respond to an “event” that affects the app’s content. NONE of these "event-driven" apps are involved with Background App Refresh; they actually aren’t background processes at all, the are brief executions of the app behind the screen. Background App Processing is used by apps that create their own events; for example, the Photos app periodically organizes the images in your photo library into automatically generated albums. This was not caused by any external event; the app just “decided” that it was a good time to organize albums. Or the Messages app takes time to “clean up” the message database So it is only apps that decide, on their own, to do some “work” that use Background App Refresh. Very few apps actually take advantage of this feature that was added a couple of years ago. If you turn off Background App Refresh the apps that use it won’t do their “housekeeping” until you open the app, which may slow down your access to the app.

If you turn it off it will save some energy, but that energy will be used later when you open the app. So there is only minimal benefit to turning it off.

You won’t hurt the battery, but your attempts to micromanage charging won’t help it either. Apples built in battery management will do a better job than what you are doing, and will be more convenient because it will let you enjoy the phone and not worry about the battery.

The absolute best way to get maximum use on a charge, as well as slow the decline of battery capacity long term is to enable Optimized Battery Charging (Settings/Battery/Battery Health) and charge the device overnight, every night. The battery will fast charge to 80%, then pause. During the nighttime pause the phone will use mains power instead of battery power, allowing the battery to “rest”, and thus reducing the need to charge the battery quite as often. The phone will resume charging to reach 100% when you are ready to use your phone; it will “learn” your usage pattern. If you enable iCloud Backup (Settings/[your name]/iCloud - iCloud Backup) the phone will back up overnight also, assuring that you can never lose more than the current day’s updates.
