Iphone 13 pro overheating

I barely used my new iphone which I got last Monday night 2 nights ago. I noticed overheating while I was transferring files from my old phone and while it is connected with charger. It doesn’t have protective film nor casing yet so I don’t use it at all. And now, that I’m using it for browsing AT&T website for an hour, I found it overheating again.. No youtube or other apps were used. And still without protective case.

So I just got off with Apple support and this helped me out. They had me go to general and then background app refresh and turn it all off. Lots of social media apps run in the background while you’re not using the phone. I surprisingly had over 24 hours of apps in the background. Also go to your battery section scroll down to battery usage by app and click the show activity tab. That’s where you can see how many apps still run in your background causing the phone to overheat. My top 5 like I stated earlier were running for more than 24 hours. Once I turned off all the background app refresh it’s been working fine so far, I’ll update if it changes but usually by now I would start feeling some heat. Also don’t just click background app refresh off. You have to actually click the tabs of each app to turn them off. Cause even though I had most of them off, some were on even when the whole section was tabbed off at the top

Good afternoon, sir/madam

I believe the general community of iPhone users understand when leaving any hardware under the sun, will arise in a hot object.

We are trying to explain, iOS 16.1 is different from 16.0 where we have noticed three major changes; iPhone 13 Pro Max:

  1. Battery Chart - for several days I have noticed it would state 75% and then suddenly it is 10%
  2. Battery Drainage - 16.0 with heavy usage, I would be able to have an iPhone for over 2 days. Now I have to charge within 6 hours
  3. Excessive Heat - like 15.0.3, my iPhone is excessively hot (at the back)

This forum for me, is to inform Apple because of the lack of process with 'Apple Store Genius Bar' or 'Apple Support' (I purchased the annual support service).

It is intended to support other parties: by sharing our agreement, experience or any additional experiences; while, sharing helpful 'hints'; for the purpose of advising/sharing with Apple developers, on their latest release of what is happening at the 'customer-end' (EX).

Thus:

  1. Battery consumption - there are three main areas which we are finding conflicts, rationalised by viewing the 'Settings', I will explain in the perspective of an EX):
    1. Apple's individual section settings - Security (multiple areas), Safari and General
    2. 3rd Party compliance with the latest release - there is no way of understanding 'why' there is a 'challenge' other than using the 'Battery: Chart'
  2. Working with Key partners - Apple needs to state when a 3rd party APP is compliant or in a 'ready-state': primarily we are concerned with Security compliance for the purpose of understanding should we be switching it off or re-install or
    1. 3rd Party Anti-Virus software alignment: principally the 'Background' status
    2. 3rd Party VPN software alignment: some form of scale of 3rd party alliance, for us to understand which is 'safe' and which are 'under our due care'
  3. Heat of our iPhone device - as you stated iOS does state when it is extremely precarious, however, it does not support our concern when there is an extreme heat in one area of the iPhone to understand if we need to be concerned: then, what should be doing and why is the cause:
    1. APP? - which one
    2. iOS? - where
    3. Hardware - this is generally covered by your statement, but it does not provide us what component is at concern

Your first statement is unfortunately a misunderstanding of this forum. You are never informing Apple of anything here. The cognizant people at Apple you hope would be here, simply are NOT. The entire purpose of this forum is for users to ask other users for help using their devices. If a user can offer help, they do. Apple isn't reading here for user feedback at all.

If you do want to communicate with Apple however, you can use this link to get your thoughts to them directly --> Feedback - iPhone - Apple

You can also use the Support button at the top of this page or bottom left of this page to reach out to Apple. You can call Apple at: 800-MY-APPLE. Or you can schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar for one-on-one in-person with someone from Apple.

But writing here, get's you nothing, other than the eyes of other users only.

Finally, I have found the admission from Apple where the conflict is between the career (in my case Vodafone with 5G service and international contract, these two elements are important) with Apple’s security service with their iOS; conflict with 5G service. The battery status is actually correct, sorry for correcting you; it qualifies what are the APP services being ‘interrupted’, the % or time is a reflection of a time stamp of when they are ‘open’ and ‘closed’ (I will not explain the programming terminology). Alas, it does not resolve the problem but explains the challenge with iOS because I do not have the same problem with my Android smartphone. I am still pausing before I upgrade to 16.2 because all the info from Apple talks about enhance features with TV, Phone etc while I want 5G resolved.
