Iphone 13 pro overheating

I barely used my new iphone which I got last Monday night 2 nights ago. I noticed overheating while I was transferring files from my old phone and while it is connected with charger. It doesn’t have protective film nor casing yet so I don’t use it at all. And now, that I’m using it for browsing AT&T website for an hour, I found it overheating again.. No youtube or other apps were used. And still without protective case.

I have noticed for past week my iPhone 13 pro overheats as well and not during charging, just regular scrolling through Fb or some activity at amazon or eBay. top half portion gets extremely hot and becomes uncomfortable to even hold the phone. should I stop by at apple location for them to have a look at it? its not getting any better

I have had this same issue. I narrowed it down to the the camera and photos. It became so hot once that it went black, which was inconvenient when I needed it for a train ticket. If I take a picture, I try to do it quickly and then I need to completely close the camera app rather than leaving it open in the background. I do not get to spend time trying to get a great shot. I travel a lot, so this is very irritating to have to reopen the camera for every single photo. Even then, if I take a video, I need to make sure I have time to turn off my phone for a while when I'm done. Scrolling through photos or leaving that app open in the background can do the same, though not as quickly as the camera.

I seem to have this problem lately when it’s charging or being on safari. It’s even worse when using a vpn. It gets so hot I can not touch it and it actually starts glitching out and not functioning right it’s terrible since they cost so darn much

Schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar to have the phone evaluated.

Already have and they just want me to reset my phone which I will loose important items and that’s not okay. Other wise they can’t seem to find problems so it’s something with software because before the last 2 updates it wasn’t overheating and getting so hot. So Apple needs to address the updates and what they have added that’s causing the cpu/ gpu to run so hot.

You didn't answer my question. How many times have you seen the message on your iPhone screen, the phone needs to cool down. It would show a temperature warning symbol. If you aren't seeing this, then your iPhone is NOT overheating. Don't confuse getting warm, which is normal depending on what you're doing, such as charging, or playing games, or streaming or watching videos, to an overheating warning.

iPhone is designed with overheating protection. It may be "hot" as you suggest, but it is specifically designed to protect itself from overheating.

Instead of debating me, another user on a user to user only forum, if you think there is an issue with your phone, discussing your concern here won't get your anything. Schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar, where they have diagnostic equipment to determine if there could be an issue with the phone.

In the period of 16.1.1, I also suffered excessive heat ‘points’ (meaning, my phone was excessively hot in certain areas of the phone); my battery deteriorated by 2%, from 100% full charge to 98%. I updated to 16.1.2, where it now no longer over-heats nor do I have battery-drain (I hope this lasts this way); my iPhone 13 Pro Max runs for nearly 2 days, BUT, I still have to have SIRI off, completely, AND, all my APPs I have all ‘background’ updates ‘OFF’ (I say all this, for 15.0 I had all settings ‘active-ON’ and my phone lasted over 2 days, where I was on the phone and internet for over 9 hours). Before you update, make sure you remove all APPs, then allow 24hours, then using a private network and your phone connected to a charger update, leave the phone ‘on’ from 9pm to 8am (there are peak times of background activities, I say this only because when looking at the battery chart it showed background activities) then individually re-install your APPs. This was the procedure had to do, like the old days with computers.

It’s like a total disappointment I have iPhone 13 Pro which is like a iron box and also a big factory you name it , I have been using this phone for past 8. Months and after calling for 10 min it’s starts heating and I can’t put it on my ears, while recording videos after 5 min starts heating and and after 15 min it’s shut down the camera automatically

I agree 100%. I even use 3G because it is still fast and on low data mode. It is even safer than 4G. I will never use 5G again. Unfortunately, Apple sent an update with iOS 16.1 and one of the terms was that it included "modifications to improve connectivity to the cellular network carrier". I thought that might improve speed or coverage. Little did I know that my phone would start heating up and radiating micro waves while consuming heavy amounts of battery power! I will never buy a 5G phone again. I am downgrading to a 4G only device as soon as I can. But be careful from refurbished.
