AirPlay option missing in my iMac 2019 macOS Monterey

My iMac 2019 doesn't have Air Play at all. I don't see it as an option in "Sharing" in the System Preferences. I updated to Monterey, and still - nothing.

So... I need some help here..

Any advice?

Obrigado, Luis. So that's why my iMac doesn't have Air Play:

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017)

    iMac Model: iMac18,3

A simple answer to a simple question is so good to get!

Also, the Apple support people should have know this, before wasting 3 hours on fumbling attempts to fix it...

I'll get a new iMac in 2022, when the M1 machines come out, with 27 inch displays.

Many thanks,

Ioram

AirPlay is definitely not there: not in Sharing, not in Display Preferences, and when I go to my iPhone and try Screen Mirroring, NOTHING shows up. Spent 3 hours with Apple Support, including a senior support rep, and nothing. They'll consult Apple in the US and we've scheduled a phone call for next week - just to say that this is HIGHLY unusual and saying "AirPlay is there, somehow you are missing it" has extended to "Apple can't find it either..." - So if anyone here has a clue, it'll be much appreciated.

Thanks, but Time Machine is working fine and I even have a backup from the exact time I produced the report... as well as from subsequent moments. I have a good external HD and all is backed up, but for the exceptions I defined.

VPNs I have one, ProtonVPN. The other one, OpenVPN is not to be found in my iMac and I will see about it.

My original issue was a completely different one: I was asking why is it I don't have Air Play on my iMac in any shape or form.

This was sidelined in this short thread, but was the only reason I wrote here. So it's left unanswered.

Still: Is it true that iMac 2017 machines don't have the Air Play option? Do you have an idea about this?

AirPlay is there, somehow you are missing it. First please CAREFULLY read Use AirPlay on your Mac - Apple Support and if you still have a problem then I recommend that you call AppleCare and a tech will show you how. If you are in the USA the phone number is 800-275-2273, outside the USA please use AppleCare contact Information to find the phone number in your country. When you call them, please have the Mac's serial number handy.

In Monterey AirPlay is now even more able than before!

Please do the following and we can look for obvious issues that may be causing your problem.

Please navigate to www.Etrecheck.com and download the free version of EtreCheck. Once you have you downloaded the app and installed it, please run the report and save it. This report will help us get a good idea what has been installed on your system and help us be able to diagnose what may be wrong.

When you have your report, you can attach it when you reply to this message and we can then review it and help you determine what is needed to get your system running well again.

For instructions on how to download your EtreCheck report and attach it to your reply to this message please click https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-250000211

I see you have both ProtonVPN and OpenVPN installed. I strongly recommend uninstalling both per the developers instructions as they do not add any additional levels of security. Next I do not see any evidence this computer is backed up, if that is correct that is a HUGE error and needs to be rectified. At the very least you should be using Time Machine to backup to safeguard your data, apps, settings, photos, musics, etc... If you are not familiar with Time Machine please click Back up your Mac with Time Machine. Operating any computer without backing up is a mistake and will result in lost data.

After uninstalling the VPN apps, please restart in Safe Mode and then restart normally and re-test. If the problem is still there, then restart in the Recovery Partition and install Mac OS, this type of install will only fill in missing pieces of Mac OS and will not interfere with your data. However things can always go wrong so this is why you need a backup ASAP. If you need a good quality External Hard Disk to back up onto I (and many other experienced users) use the OWC Mercury Elite Pro due to their hi reliability , reasonable cost, and the ease of replacing the HD when it comes time.

Please make backing up the computer your #1 priority.
