FCP 10.6 macOS Monterey SLOW & NOT RESPONDING!

Just updated to macOS Moneterey and FCP 10.6 yesterday. Tried using FCP with it today but the loading screen is super super super super slow!!!!!!

I'm connecting a Sandisk Extreme Pro directly to it.

I'm also using a MBP 16: 2019.

Does anybody else face this problem?

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 12.0

Here we go for another day of catastrophe!

Can I jump in again and start by saying that I am not using any HDD. All my asset is held on the 2 Gb SSD, which should give max speed?

After my attempt at multi-cam editing last night, the rendering seems to have happened, but I was left with a background task of re-coding which just stuck at 6%. So I went to bed and left it, but this morning still 6% and FCP not responding, so no option but to force quit. Now the FCP (10.6.1) won't load at all.

Looks like I shall be removng FCP and re-installing.

I just need to get on with the job.

I have been editing on non-linear systems for 21 years, and I guess when you have worked with older systems one understands why a system of external HDD is needed. SSD's are fast & looks great when you speed test them.

Real work workflows for me has always been a system of; machine + external RAID = happy editor.

When you export or encode from an internal SSD to that same SSD, where is FCP going to write cache files? I don't think one SSD will give you the bandwidth for both tasks.

More often than not, problems after an upgrade of the OS can be caused by old stuff that does not play nice with the new OS.

You may want to run Etrecheck and post its full report here. Use the "additional text" button and paste the report into the text box.

And if you have Chrome, antivirus or "cleaners" on this mac, they are the worst enemies of a sane mac, and especially of professional applications like FCP.
