macOS Monterey 12.0.1 & Magic Mouse / Calendar Issues

Has anyone experienced the following since upgrading to macOS Monterey 12.0.1?

I have a 2020 M1 MacBook Pro and since upgrading when I return to my Mac after taking a break, when I wake the laptop using the mouse, I notice that I cannot scroll with the mouse (Apple Magic Mouse) unless I turn the mouse off and on again. Track pad works fine all the time, just the Magic Mouse is an issue.

Secondly, since upgrading my Calendar app now takes up to 30 seconds to open. Whether it's related I have also seen problems with the calendar apps on iPad and iPhone (and widgets too) - so maybe it's just a bug in the calendar app. I have tried unticking each calendar and restarting the app to no avail.

Anyone?

Cheers, Mark.

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

I also upgraded to macOS Monterey 12.1 and the problem I had with losing scroll and gesture functions with my Magic Mouse has disappeared (so far). However, if I run diagnostics with the mouse connected I still get an error message, "There may be an issue with the trackpad. Reference Code: NDR005, NDR006." There is no error if I turn the mouse off before running diagnostics. I thought the error message was related to the loss of mouse functions, but apparently not...

Incidentally, like others I had trouble updating to 12.1 with my M1 MacBook Air. When I checked for an update, it told me I was up to date with 12.0.1. I had to boot into Recovery mode and reinstall the OS in order to get 12.1.

Ou, so they lied me on support. They told me, that dont have any report about this problem and they dont work about some software upgrade. They told, they are changing mouses only. Ive tryed one mouse on 2 pcs with diiferent OS - Big sur on macbook (Intel) and Montaray on iMac 24 (M1) and mouse has same problem on both macs.

I hope, there is some solution and change mouse will help, becouse magic mouse is from my new iMac.

Same issue as you have. MacAir 2020 M1.

Had the HD partioned with a test site........Monterey OS reinstalled. 12.0.1 and then 12.1 later...... the same mouse Issue persisted.

New logic board installed as it contains the Bluetooth tech..... but the Issue still persists.

Perhaps Apple people could please wake up and solve this issue. I've given up to 4 hrs a day for the last month trying to identify and solve the problem with Apple. Unfortunately they don't know how to fix it.

Disappointed that the Apple people seem to think I might be the only person in the whole wide world with this supposedly 'unique' magic mouse drop out ....... no one else in Apple seems to be aware of it or indeed how to fix it.

I continue to have problems with a dead Magic Mouse when I wake my Mac from Sleep, but I've discovered a reasonably quick workaround. I use my old corded mouse to turn off Blue Tooth. I manually turn off the Magic Mouse. I count to 10. I turn Blue Tooth Back on. I turn the Magic Mouse back on. I have been doing this for several days now, and every time it has worked. It's frustrating but not as much as having to reboot. I agree that Apple really dropped the ball on this one.

Thank You. Turning magic mouse on and off, or removing from Macair and then reinstalling will work - ditto turning the mac on or off......will reinstall the mouse and all its facilities. BUT only for some time. In general, it seems its about 24hrs or so before it drops out and misbehaves! 1st World problem, just not good enough from Apple.

Update on the Monterey update: 12.0 broke my Magic Mouse. 12.0.1 fixed it. 12.1 broke it again. My Mac does seem faster, but once again I have to turn off blue tooth, turn off the wireless mouse, turn blue tooth back on, and then turn the mouse back on. Not a big deal but also not up to Apple's level of excellence.
