macOS Monterey 12.0.1 & Magic Mouse / Calendar Issues

Has anyone experienced the following since upgrading to macOS Monterey 12.0.1?

I have a 2020 M1 MacBook Pro and since upgrading when I return to my Mac after taking a break, when I wake the laptop using the mouse, I notice that I cannot scroll with the mouse (Apple Magic Mouse) unless I turn the mouse off and on again. Track pad works fine all the time, just the Magic Mouse is an issue.

Secondly, since upgrading my Calendar app now takes up to 30 seconds to open. Whether it's related I have also seen problems with the calendar apps on iPad and iPhone (and widgets too) - so maybe it's just a bug in the calendar app. I have tried unticking each calendar and restarting the app to no avail.

Anyone?

Cheers, Mark.

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

My Magic Mouse is behaving as it should more often now, but now always. Too often I have to use my old corded mouse to disconnect Bluetooth, turn off the mouse, turn Bluetooth back on, and turn the mouse back on. So far this has solved the problem and is only a minor annoyance, but it is an annoyance. Apple prides itself on perfection. They can do better.

I have 7 Mac Pro's (the professional unit that people say looks like a cheese grater) at work and they all have the same mouse stutter, or the loss of movement left and right. I had a mouse replaced for one of the units. The problem is still there. I also own a 2 week old iMac (24", M1) that is also having the same issue. All computers are running the most current OS available from Apple. If 8 units are having the same problem, even with a mouse exchange which would make 9 mice in total, and the fact that 2 different models are involved, 1 being a professional unit, it boils down to a software glitch. When video editing is on a deadline, this mouse issue is truly problematic. It was also discovered that with the OS updates, both the Mac Pro's and the iMac will not eject and release a G-Technology external hard drive using a Thunderbolt 3 connection. Seagate drives do not have this problem. To release the drives you must either log out of your account or totally shut down the computer....another time waster. Apple, PLEASE, find the solutions.

I have yet to find a solution. I bought a brand new Magic Mouse after I thought it was a problem with my original. Nothing seems to help. I now have to restart my iMac to get it working and it is totally annoying. What happens with me is this. I restart the iMac 2017 with monetary, blue tooth and mouse respond. After sleep mode, when I try to wake the iMac, the mouse and key board skip, delay and run irrationally. I have tried everything. Absolutely annoying. When I bough a new Magic Mouse, it installed and was recognized by the iMac, but after it sleeps, it skips and stalls. Any solution that worked let me know. Hoping apple fixes it…..

I called Apple Support on Thursday because my Magic Mouse was really being uncooperative. It would either slow down or stop moving the cursor left and right. Deleting preferences only lasted a few moments. Oddly enough, blowing into the hole on the underside of the mouse, where the infrared sensor is, would also help for just a short period of time. Keep in mind that blowing air into this location is recommended, should it get dirty. But, my mouse is new, as is my iMac, so that isn't the case. So, after describing the issue to the Apple Support person, I was told that Apple is aware of a bug causing this problem that was introduced in the last update. It will be addressed in a future update but the support person didn't know if it would be addressed in Monterey 12.3 due to be out in another week or two or in a later update.
