How do I get Monterey screensaver to show the mat-geo photos.
MacBook Air
Yes, I know the steps and followed
no matter what “source” I select I only get a black or white screen
i used the nat-geo pics in the past, but I can’t even get colors to work
dynamic backgrounds are selected for screens
but changing to static does not change snything
i also have screen sleep set to never, but no matter the value, no change
I have the same problem with my 2017 iMac27". Only get a black screen with a slight shadow of the picture. No picture screen savers work and neither does "Monterey".
Drift, Flurry and those type are working but I hate those.
The 12.1 Monterey is a partial fix in my experience. The images displayed out of photos by the screen saver are the unedited versions. In my case I have scanned many old photograph album pages, then in photos duplicated the image of the album page and edited cropping down to a single photograph. The screen saver however shows the whole album page image i.e. the unedited image, which is irritating especially as some pages are upside down. The only way I can work around this is to export out of photos into a folder, then point at the folder with screen saver. With hundreds of pictures this is not a good workaround going forward.
I agree, a relief that they’ve fixed the biggest issue, but still a major shortcoming that it uses unedited originals. I have over 25k pictures, so the workaround with exporting them is a big pain.
Another feature that disappeared a few OS versions ago was the ability to go back with the back arrow. This was a great feature that my family frequently used when a picture we liked came up, and I have no idea why they would have gotten rid of it.
Bottom line, Mac had a way better screensaver product a few years ago for showing your personal picture collection. Crazy that it’s been getting worse instead of better!
Monterey 12.1 has repaired screen saver, Yeh! trouble is it is back to where it was with Big Sur. Using a screen saver from a photo album in Photos results in the un-edited version of the photos being appearing so crops and rotations are not displayed :(
Agreed! I spend hours after ever vacation curating and editing my pictures - a lot of cropping - seeing the unedited originals is infuriating and makes me just select a non-photo screen saver which defeats the whole purpose of the purported fix
Agreed it is irritating.
However I have discovered:
1) On my macbook pro (13",2020) chip M1
The screensaver has the problem described :-(
Slideshow from photos is however ok
2) On an imac (21,5" 2015) with intel i5 chip
Screensaver and slideshows work ok!
Both are on Monterey 12.1
After upgrading to macOS 12.0.1 my screen saver using my photo library stopped working.
A known problem with Intel Macs and the photo screen savers. Just have to wait for a fix from Apple.
Not sure if this would install the folder:
See dialabrain's response above.
I have the same problem here, but only on my Intel iMac. The M1 doesn't have this problem.
It's also not working if you select Photo Library, WhatsApp or Colors..
Still did not work. And when one of the settings (origami) showed the pics I wanted, it STILL went to black. There is clearly a bug that needs to be fixed.
Same issue here. What does Apple say? This seems to be a widespread issue with Monterey update . . .
After upgrading to macOS 12.0.1 my screen saver using my photo library not work. When start screen saver change black screen with clock.
Yes, exactly, I have the same problem since the upgrade on both my iMac 2015 and MacBook Pro 2016.
