Yes the hardware is irrelevant. While waiting for Apple to issue an update, a possible fix is:

Go to the Accessibility settings and turn on Full Keyboard Access. Then tap on Commands and clear the special action for Space and any other key that causes problems.

Thanks Steve. That seams to have worked. Had trouble locating “space” under Command, as there was no such name- but figured it out when I compared it to my iPhone and where that command should be. Thanks so much for your help!

I am so extremely tired of the “fix” for the keyboard problem. I keep getting blue lines around things I type and even looks like my typing is highlighted in blue. This is ridiculous. I want my iPad “keyboard” to work like it was before the update. I hate this workaround fix. Ridiculous

It's been a very long time with no progress on this. I guess Apple is ignoring this problem. Or maybe isn't even aware - though I know some tech support people are, since I haven't seen any one from Apple actually responding here.

Having the same trouble and did the full keyboard access thing. Now the spacebar is acting up in the command box in safari. I'll try turning the full keyboard access off and see if that works.

I'm with you about deleting facebook, but Apple really screwed the pooch on this update. Never had problems like this before with an update. It's like the kids at Apple don't bother beta testing the updates.

Granted the Emoji's button not working isn't the end of the world, but why should it even happen. Apple's new code did something to mess it up. I'm also getting a blue line around the entire screen or sometimes a dialogue box as though it's a signal of data download. Hope Apple gets it together with an update to their update soon.

Glad you mentioned that turning it back off resolves the safari typing issue. Just did and sure enough it works again. Guess I'll have to turn it back on with in Facebook and off when in safari. What a PIA - can't believe Apple allowed this many glitches in an update.

FYI all - under accessibility, keyboards, commands: Try tapping on Commands on the full access page and clearing the special action for Space and any other key that causes problems. You’ll see spacebar. Just hit clear and it resolved the problem for me when I had full keyboard access on. Hope thats all of it..

I tried this method and I cannot for the life of me find “Full Keyboard Access”. I have followed Settings — General — Accessibility — Keyboards and just cannot find it. Is there a sub menu it’s hiding in?

I have just turned off the full access keyboard. Driving me crazy with the blue lines around everything and blue highlighting. I just lift my iPad off the keyboard when I want to tap comments in Facebook. I can still use the keyboard to type on FB. I installed the update for Facebook but didn’t help. This must be an Apple glitch. They need to correct this mess.

I lift my ipad off the keyboard for every FB post I want to comment on or read comments. I hated the way keyboard had blue lines and blue highlighting when I did the steps for the all access keyboard. That made a mess of using keyboard in other programs. I cannot believe Apple or Facebook cannot correct this problem. And every time I come here to post, it says post cannot be saved and to try again in few minutes. What is going on?

I installed update 15.1 earlier today, and now when using the Facebook app (and maybe others, not sure yet) it freezes up when I click on comments or try to type comments. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the FB app. I have forced a shutdown of my ipad. Still keeps happening. What more can be done to get rid of this very time consuming and annoying bug?

I had the same issue as the original poster. When I turned on Full Keyboard Access, Facebook behavior improved, but other apps, like Gmail went wonky. I went back to Full Keyboard Access, left it ON, but I deleted the Space Bar control as someone else suggested. These two changes together seem to have resolved my issue.

I am using a Logitech Slim Folio keyboard, so the problem is beyond Apple’s magic keyboard.

I had this problem and post said change keyboard to full access. I did that and it fixed FB problem but caused another keyboard problem. Blue line, unable to space etc. only goes away if I remove full access on keyboard then I’m back to issues with FB

Under commands in the under Keyboard, clear spacebar command. You still wind up with occasional blue lines. Haven’t figured that one out yet. Apple needs to get another update out here to fix what they messed up with 15.1.
