How to Avoid Accidental Back-to-Back Calls on iPhone 13 Pro Max

Since my new iphone 13 pro max (or maybe ios15?): when I hang up my call, i start immediately calling someone else, due to the fact the calling screen goes away so extremely fast if the other one on the phone is hanging up earlier: I press hang up, but the screen goes away so fast if the other one is faster, that I press calling the one in my list that was behind the "end phonecall button".

I didn't have this before, now I call 3 people a day by accident. Anyone else the same issue?

Same here on iPhone 12 pro on iOS 15.

This is a major flaw in a core function of this device.

It is unsafe to use the red button to hang up a call.

Once I called my boss by accident at 11:30 PM, because unfortunately he was the entry under the red button at this moment.

OMG

Please Apple, do something! Your product should not lead to such shameful moments.

I wrote a product feedback suggestion to Apple two months ago, but nothing happended since then.

Yes driving me crazy. All bugs were worked out before pushing updates. So disappointed AND surprised at Apples ball dropping. Letting the public report the bugs instead of allocating a team to, then apply fixes then roll out updates. One paid lotsa monies for this, now we play lots of money for subpar apple products. Im sure Steve Jobs is rolling in his grave. RIP

You can reproduce the issue yourself. Call someone, ideally from the "Recents" call list, and have them hang up. The call screen will almost immediately disappear. If both people have iPhones and were both trying to hang up at the same time, the person that was slower can end up pressing the screen where the red hang up button was but end up calling the person under it. Agree with the auto dialing after hanging up on a call is associated with updating. You’re fixing one thing and causing other problems. Example: I used to ask Siri for directions and navigation and Siri would always comment while on route with take a left not at this light but the next light. After updating, Siri has gone silent. I talked to a Apple C/S, did what they said and nothing helped.

Okay, I understand. Do you have it connected to your car? If so, you need to turn on spoken directions over radio. Go to Settings > Maps > Spoken Directions and toggle on "Directions on Radio".

If it's just standalone and you still can't see the speaker, ensure your software is updated fully. Then, delete Maps (press and hold app, press Delete > Delete App), and reinstall from the App Store.

Okay, so you’re saying my car radio voice needs changing? If I don’t connect car play, it hooks up via blue tooth and music or Siri will make calls for me. And it gives me directions with a map but no verbal help along the way like it used to do. With the cord connected for car play same thing. I tried Waze and it gives you directions but Siri was definitely much better than Waze.

I’ll delete and reload the Siri app but not confident in the out come.

It's never been a problem for me. that doesn't mean that I don't recognize other people aren't having a problem.

When you are on a call and the other party hangs up your phone hangs up automatically also, and the button that you press to hang up becomes a callback button. So when you end a call don’t tap to hang up; just wait a couple of seconds and the call will end by itself. If the other party does NOT hang up then you can press the button to disconnect.

You should absolutely select the tool that best fills your needs. Historically, Motorolas have fantastic battery life and often interesting hardware; Samsungs have great screens but a lot of bloatware (and a history of explosions though I think they've largely gotten that under control). Avoid cheap Android phones. They have a tendency to have subpar hardware and rarely get updated.

I have te same issue. It’s really annoying. If this isn’t solved. My next phone won’t be an iPhone 😓

If you read my response right above yours it will probably solve your issue. But Android phones will work the same way if you tap the hang up button after the call is ended by the other party. So switching won’t solve anything.

That is 100% not true. Android phones work like the iPhone used to. When the other end hangs up, there is a couple second delay where the hang up button goes away and it says "Call Ended" at the top. There is no "Call Ended" delay anymore on iPhone, but there used to be.

The workaround is to use the lock button to hang up. It is not a good workaround, though. It is a very simple fix.
