Imac frozen

I have a 2017 Imac running Monterey and it keeps freezing and losing the bluetooth connection. It's getting more frequent and it's really frustrating to get any work done. Any fixes or is it broken?

Well I see some issues that need correction, however before you do ANYTHING there is no evidence you backup your Mac. This is short sighted and will result in lost data. If I am correct, please get yourself an external HD such as a OWC Mercury Elite Pro and use Time Machine to backup. If you are not familiar with TM please read Back up your Mac with Time Machine!!!

After you have a backup please do the following:

The best antivirus, cleaning app, and overall maintenance app for Mac OS is Mac OS itself. All you need to do with Mac OS to keep it secure and running well is to keep it up-to-date and do periodic (about 1x per week) restarts. Other than that, leave it alone. Adding third party antivirus, cleaning, security and other types of maintenance apps to Mac OS adds no additional level of security. The only thing these apps do is have the opposite affect users want. They make Mac OS slow, unstable, generate odd behavior (much like you are experiencing) and make Mac OS appear buggy.

Please locate the developers uninstall instructions for CleanMyMac and follow to the letter. Then restart in Safe Mode per the directions in Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac  and then restart normally.

Finally, please do the following:

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

I believe we need to proceed with an EtreCheck report. EtreCheck is a useful App to diagnose and identify issues, both hardware and software. It is trusted by many users. Please follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Navigate to: https://etrecheck.com and get the free version of EtreCheckPro.
  2. Download it. It is a free and trusted app. It is often recommended here on Apple Support Communities.
  3. Open EtreCheck, and before running the report, be sure to check “Allow full Drive Access” at the bottom of the EtreCheckPro window.
  4. Run the report, and put it in a post, as seen here: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-250000211. We will then examine the report for issues in your Mac.

Macs, cat-like, have featured automated self cleaning routines for about 20 years. Third-party cleaners interfere with that elegant programming and will slow and destabilize a Mac. Sellers of useless utilities know this.

Two other issues:

you appear to have added RAM. What make and model is the RAM?

the report suggests your Fusion drive may have “split.” Please see if this article helps confirm that:

I thought about moving my OS to an external disk and running my computer that way but I'm not sure if that would fix the problem since my Imac still needs to read it.

You should not have to do that. Your iMac has a fairly robust Fusion Drive.

However, please use DriveDx to check the heath of your Fusion Drive and upload the two reports.

Cheers,

I un-installed CMM and restarted in safe mode and it was very glitchy. Every time I tried to click on my HD to open, nothing happened for about 10 seconds and then it finally opened. I checked to see if my drive was split and it's not. It clearly says Fusion drive under storage without a flash drive as well. Is there anything else I can do? The problem still persists.
