iOS 15.2 Battery Drain

Is anyone experiencing battery drain since updating to iOS 15.2? If so, any tips for what to do about it? I just updated this morning. Thanks!

My iphone 7 drain started at iOS14.8. I upgraded it to 15 hoping it would go away but it did not. I followed some guide on the internet and downgraded it to 14.8 but it still drained.

I did hard reset to factory mode. Did not work.

Reset all settings. Did not work.

So upgraded few times now to 15.2.1. The drain slope is less outrageous now but still never normal

Somehow we never learn our lesson. New features and so-called “security patches” upcoming, we panick and update iOS.

Then when new iOS brings problems, we update again hoping the problems get solved. It sometimes never.

Then new features and “security patches” upcoming again before the problems are solved.

This vicious cycle feeds on itself.

then one day we buy a new phone because of better cameras blah blah blan.

anyway my battery drain on iOS 15.3. Looks the same. But feels less bad then 15.2.1. Safari use draining less. Maybe a placebo effect

I have iPhone 13 and in fact i recently upgraded to IOS 15.2 and it was draining the battery like from 100% to 30% in one day and only 3 hours screen on Times . so I decided to take back up of it on my Mac and then Reset to factory and erase every thing and set up it again and restore my back up ,

I think the problem is solved because now for 3 H screen on and surfing the web and social networks it has reduced only 10%

hello,

I have the same problem with my iPhone

After the iOS 15.2 update, the battery of my iPhone drains unbelievably.

Before I went to bed my iPhone had a battery of 44% but when I woke up in the morning it had a battery of 31%. The main problem here is not using the iPhone and draining the battery. It never happened before this update. in my opinion, I think this is a problem with iOS 15.2.

But it was 15.1 that kicked off many of the recent complaints about battery drain. Obviously they haven’t issued a fix yet in 15.2. Maybe it will arrive in a future iteration.

But please…… anyone having these problems, please report directly to Apple Feedback. Another user has kindly provided a link elsewhere on this thread, or you can simply Google it.

Apple is not reading these user forums.

No, it was actually iPhone 2 and the inclusion of 3rd party app that kicked off many of the complaints about battery drain. Prior to the inclusion of the App Store Apple could carefully control what was running on the iPhone since it was available only on one cell provider and only AJAX apps were available aside from ones included with the OS. Every update since then has resulted in battery drain issues from someone. And there is no feasible means to test every possible combination of iPhone configuration.

This is when “reset network settings” might help.

Just make sure that you know your important Wi-Fi passwords before you do this, and know that you will need to re-enter your customized iPhone name if you had one by going to at “settings > general > about”

It always renames your iPhone from something like “iPhone 12 Pro Max” to “iPhone”.

An additional step for people who do actually sync to a computer is to NOT turn on Wi-Fi syncing when you re-pair with your Mac.

Your screenshots are what my iPhone 13 Pro max and iPad Mini 6 drain looked like. I would lose 4-7% or so per hour, using it or not.

I turned off a bunch of Home Screen widgets, but Apple News made a big impact on helping return battery life. However, Apple News was draining battery and showing up as background activity on the "Settings > Battery" screen.

Nothing else was showing up as a big drain. When it was draining, I found that turning off other things did NOT help, like turn off background app refresh, turn off push mail, low power mode - none of that mattered.

Turning off Apple News widget didn't help to entirely stop the drain though, it just dropped it down to 3-4% drain per hour without using the iPhone or iPad. Something in the OS/system was sucking resources that didn't show up in the battery settings screen.

RESET NETWORK SETTINGS DID HELP, FOR A DAY OR TWO initially.

I tried to figure out why RESET NETWORK SETTINGS DIDN'T LAST LONGER than 1-2 days, and I traced it down to IN MY CASE my devices were being paired with my iMac and MacBook 16", and when I re-paired the devices to Mac it defaulted to "show my iPhone when connected over wifi".

Apparently I would always wait a day or two before connecting back to my computers, and after I did that was when the battery drain came back after resetting network settings.

Now that I don't have them set to show iPhone when connected with wifi, my reset network settings FIX has lasted me for over a week. I only have to plug my iPad in every 3-4 days depending on how much I use it. It has only drained 6% since 1:30AM when I had it at 100%, with about 6 minutes screen on and 43 minutes screen off usage.

Before bed at 2AM last night my iPhone was still at 64% after 16 hours off the charger with over 5 hours screen on and 3 hours screen off use.

I charged it last night, and am off the charger for 5 hours now, with 100 minutes of "screen on" use and I am at 88%. However, prior to doing the Reset Network Settings, my phone would have been down to 70-80% today without using it at all.

@raffeph I’m sorry to hear that. I’ve heard that “reset network settings” can still help even if you are not paired to a computer for sync and backup.

I have had my iPhone 13 Pro Max unplugged for over 12 hours (about 10:30AM), and used my GPS on battery for two 20+ minute driving trips (42 min GPS screen on), WITH 5 hours of screen on use total today + 4 hours screen off use since unplugged AND I AM AT 58% BATTERY at 10:50pm.

I WOULD SAY I’M100% fixed.
