HomeKit Camera Snapshots not updating

Over the last day or so snapshots (previews) of my cameras in HomeKit stopped updating on my iPhone 12 Pro. The text always says the snapshot is from “now” but the picture is more than a day old. The cameras still stream fine and snapshots appear normally on my iPad, Mac and iPhone 12 mini. Nothing changed in my HomeKit setup and rebooting hubs/cameras/my iPhone don’t solve this issue.

So I rebooted my iPhone this morning and snapshots were back to normal… seems like something may have gotten fixed on Apple’s side. Can anyone else confirm a device reboot fixes camera snapshots for them?

Well... it seems it didn't solve the issue, and made it worse.

At first all my three cameras seem to work fine after removing and re-adding them. But... one camera is no longer updating the preview after 10 seconds, so the issue persists. A second camera is now not responding anymore, and the third camera seems to be fine: updating the preview every 10 seconds.

But none of the three cameras are recording HKSV anymore! No timeline, no rewind, nothing. And now also incorrect previews and no playback HKSV on my MacBook Pro from any of these three cameras.

I’m noticing the same thing and it has only recently started happening. I’m either seeing all the previews in the Home app as black or a snapshot that is several days old. Quitting the app temporarily resolves the black screen problem but then shows an old snapshot. Clicking on any of the cameras brings up the live feed but closing the window brings back the old snapshot.

i thought i was the only one. currently my setup has cameras with the native home kit integration available which does make them more expensive and easier for setup. now this expense doesn't even get me refreshed images. feels like there should be more sense of urgency in these particular "home" updates. especially with the times we live in. home automation is growing

I had the same issue with my Eufy 2k cameras (four of them). I ended up having to delete the Camera's from the Home App and re-adding to Home and it fixed the issue.

On a side note I had this problem and another problem where "Erase This Camera's Recordings" (via the Home app) would crash the Home app. Still working on this issue with Apple support.

Both issues only appeared when I upgraded to 15.2

I am also having this issue. I’m using two Ecobee Indoor Cameras. They stream fine, but the “preview” in the main screen is out of date. Rebooting the cameras did not resolve. Rebooting the Wi-Fi did not resolve. Rebooting all the phones (2 iPhone 13 Pro Max, 1 iPhone 13 Pro, 1 iPhone SE 2Gen) did not resolve. This worked fine when initially set up in July, but has progressively gotten more unreliable as time went on.

I have not fully wiped the cameras yet, as I’m hoping to avoid doing that to avoid losing the recorded footage.

Does this help anyone? Can anyone use this as a jumping point to go further?

Try updating to 15.3 to see if that fixes the problem. If it doesn't remove the camera's from the Home app and re-add which worked for me before 15.3 came out.

** On a side note I'm having another Home app issue when I go to "Erase This Camera's Recording" - it crashes the Home app. It started when I upgraded to 15.2 and still exists even on 15.3. I do have a Apple case open and working with them. But wondered if anyone has that issue too? :) Thanks **
