Unclear robotic voice on iPhone 13 Max Pro phone call

I had the Darlek voice on calls on my 11 got so frustrated I swapped for a new 13 and the very first call out comes the darlek 😤

its fine when I call on WhatsApp. I’ve had WiFi calling on and off and reset network settings - complained to ee who said it’s was not them 🤯

Has anyone got a solution or even an acknowledgment from Apple support that there is an issue?

we have 3 phones in same household all ee and only mine with this problem.

I have an iPhone 13 max and I am having the same trouble. I’m also getting static and skipping words. Both me and my contact have the problem in my calls. It started when I updated to iPhone 17.

Yes that’s exactly it.

I have been onto ee - and although no error showing - they reset the network settings and told me to do same on the handsets affected and force the phones onto 4G calling only so I turned off WiFi calling and WiFi assist. This didn’t have any effect but then I updated to iOS 17 and first call was clear 🤞 it stays that way it’s only been 1 day. Try this see if it helps you.

The robotic voice phenomenon was previously an occasional issue for me on my iPhone XR. I had to abandon dozens of calls because the other person would tell me my voice sounded like a robot!

Now using iPhone 15, with latest updates etc., and if anything the problem is worse. Even if I hang-up and redial, eventually the metallic robot overlord voice persists … according to people I’m speaking with.

Do Apple have a solution in the pipeline? Would a Class Action speed up their response?

Not resolved- but it’s not been quite so bad recently. I have found if I cut the call and ring back it’s okay - but sometimes I have had to recall 3 or 4 times by which time I then give up.

Its happens across all family members who have a range of apples - XR, 11 and 13 so it’s not handset specific. Apple don’t want to know!

I've been having this same issue with my iPhone 13 Pro Max - drop-out moments on phone calls where all I hear is a garbled robotic sound, as does the person I'm speaking with - for over a year and a half. I've been on numerous support calls with Apple and even gone into Genius stores - hundreds of wasted hours - and they always said it was my carrier Spectrum Mobile (so more countless hours on phone with their support team and their trouble-shooting) but last week, I finally (because of this) switched carriers to T-Mobile (for $25 more a month) and first day, first phone call - the SAME THING HAPPENED. It also happens on my shower radio and with podcasts, which should have ruled out the carrier. Yesterday's Apple Support call with a case study in BS - Deny, Distract, Blame. I'm two months out of warranty but have a record of having reported this since June, experienced it even earlier. I'm at the end of my rope. How do we get a Class Action Suit started?

It's clear there is a consistent issue which Apple Support refuses to acknowledge. Are there any next steps?Would journalists with Mac-centric publications be interested? I know that it's maybe all too spread out and diffuse now? How does a group of Apple users go about finding class action attorneys?

I have tried multiple contacts. It doesn’t matter if on WiFi or not.

This just started happening for me. I find using FaceTime audio works. I also don’t have much of this issue in TEAMs, but it still does happen. I also use my phone for work. We need a solve!!

Like the other respondents on this page, I too have tried switching off WiFi and re-starting the phone. I have not switched carriers and there does not seem to be a fix for this so far. :(

This happens with mine, my husband’s and my moms phone 2 XS+ and 1 XR

we have to hang up and call each other back. It has ruined so many very important phone conversations including 1 interview.

I have an iphone12 and have repeatedly requested assistance with this issue from both my service provider and Apple, taking all the steps that were outlined with no resolution. Please help.
