Screen Time not working on Tiktok, Snapchat, Instagram?

Screen Time not working on Tiktok, Snapchat, Instagram. I've been trying to block these apps for months. I've tried everything from factory resetting the phone to getting a new phone and still those app will continue to work after the downtime and app limit. Ive seen other questions about the issue and it seem that Apple doesn't have a fix nor are they trying to fix a common issue. So what other option for controlling those apps on ios devices?

I figured it out. I had the same situation with my child's phone (iphone 11 ios 15.4): instagram, tiktok, twitter, pinterest.. all these apps where not blocked. Removing screentime, rebooting, changing time limits didn't work. Try the following:

  1. Go to Screen time on your child's device.
  2. Click on Always Allowed.
  3. Approve all the apps that you want to block (in my case I added all social media apps)
  4. Once you add all the apps go back to the previous setting screen and then close the window (swipe up)
  5. Open again screen time and now go to the Always approve and remove the apps from the always allowed list.
  6. Go back to the previous setting screen and close the settings app (swipe up).

This should fix the issue. Hope this helps. This worked for me :)

Why would you even reply Jack, when you are clearly clueless as to the rampant number of problems Screen Time has with this and related issues.

The only thing worse than your pointless reply is the fact that Apple has recommended your reply.

My daughter regularly watches TikTok past her scheduled downtime of 20:30, but there’s no problem with Screen Time is there 🙄 No amount of resetting, updating, fiddling fixes it….. But no known issues, cheers 👍🏽

I am having this issue with my child’s phone as well. I have checked all the parental controls, have limits set up and selected the block after time limit option. All of that is showing correctly. However, on my daughter’s phone while in TikTok and Snapchat, instead of seeing “Ask for more time” at the bottom when she hits her limit, it reads “ignore for full day” or something like that. The limits worked in the beginning; however now they are not. I’m guessing her phone ran an update and this is a glitch. This is a major problem that needs to be fixed!

We have the same issue as these posts running as far back as 2019. In my eyes this seems 100% intentional, as is the horrible interface and logic of Apple's parental controls software (compared with Google's family time which I used for years). This company knows how to make things simple and easy. That's its credo. But it can't manage to make a straightforward, usable and consistent app for limiting use and addiction to iphones? with gazillion complaints and questions online for years? I find it hard to believe this is just a shoddy, unreliable product vs an intentional, cold and brutal, corporate decision.

So, after trying several workarounds and still my 13 y.o daughter is logging 6 straight hours of tik tok (limited to 1 hr in Family Time), with a clear decline in her joy and general wellbeing, we've found our work around: android.

I tried this and it didn’t work. I do think that in my daughter’s case, it may some stupid widget app that she downloaded without permission when I let her download another app. I think the apps that she can use as long as she wants no matter what I tried were widgets on her phone. Now I have to wrest it from her grasp tomorrow and look for the widget app to delete it

Same here, I have the exact same issue but with Snapchat.

Screen Time is one big mess since a while now. It shows settings but behaves completely differently.

I’m suspecting it might have to do with different iOS versions.

Considering kids are typically on older phones vs their parents.

I have an iPhone 15 (iOS 17) myself and my kid an iPhone X (iOS 16)
