iPad Air 5 battery is draining fast. After watching Netflix, about 2 and a half hours, my battery was already down to 40% from a charge of 100%. I have noticed that the life of the battery did not seem to match my last iPad Air 3 since I received it. Is this OS related?

Me too, have had numerous iPads and just came from a 6th gen iPad. This thing is terrible form the normal use I have come to expect and really experience in my daily use. Not impressed at all. Only been casually on it for 3 hours and 5% now causing me to search these forums. There must be something going on with these.
fully updated and restarted. But loads of daily experience with multiple iPads.
ForeFlight does can not even handle 3 hours, my 6th gen was easily 6.
Replying again to this thread after some time. Still having battery issues with my iPad Air latest gen. I noticed that after say 2 hours watching Hulu using my AirPods that the battery was drained to 45%-50% the last two nights. Wonder if this is a bluetooth issue? It would be great to have access to an apple diagnostic utility outside of having to bring the device into an apple store. Is there a diagnostic tool for me to use?
I have the same issue. I just got this on the mail 2 days ago and have been trying everything. I got it for school and this drains 20%+ every 30 minutes. This issue needs to be addressed asap. I shouldn’t have to turn off the automatic updates etc for my iPad Air 5 to last me more than 3 hrs.
I personally feel Apple iPad Air 5 battery is not up to the standards. I usually use it for my classes. It hardly last for a class. Basic things such as browsing internet, seeing videos on YouTube or Amazon prime, battery hardly last for 5 hrs. Apple claim that the battery could last for at least 10 hours. Disappointed.
Yes, now on a trip in Europe. Does not last the day for on and off researching, safari, maps, etc… non cell, only wifi, settings restrained for battery life. Don’t think it can get 3 hours in reality. Extremely disappointed. New iPad buyers, stay clear of this model due to battery life, and I find the lack of Face ID I miss actually.
Well, I called Apple and offered to exchange this to the pro, three week after when I truly was confident the battery is terrible on the Air 5th. I was absolutely willing to pay the difference and they would only except trade-in! 249 for the iPad I paid 929 for in Canada… it had not even cleared my credit card yet.
WHAT AN INSULT! they would not do anything.

Just wondering if you could explain how you went through the process of getting it checked out. Everytime I contact support, they run a remote battery diagnostic check and say its running normally, yet I'm only getting max 4 hours of battery life. Thank you!!
Ya, get rid of it before it is too late... I waited a few days past the return date... stupid me. Very unhappy with the battery life. My 4 year-old 6th Gen far outlasts this one; even my original 2010 1st Gen (still have it) outlasts it!
They’ve simply used a weak battery for the iPad Air. I’m also quite disappointed with my brand-new iPad Air. I’m using it for studies, mainly note taking, and the battery is drained after half a day of use.
So i’m assuming that the battery life will really start being annoyingly short in a year or two. I’ll consider returning it as a different commenter suggested.
Same here. Felt like I was going insane! The support person ran a remote diagnostic and declared the battery health is fine.
But, as I explained to them, I was so fed up with the battery draining that I charged to 100% and manually powered off the iPad...after month or so, I turn it on and the battery is 30%!!!
But iPad Air 5 does not record this data with timestamps - so it is hard to prove this happens.
In countries where Apple sells the products at even more inflated rates, you really do feel ripped off. In this region - for instance - the exchange rate's around 80. But Apple multiples USD rates by 100. (They manufacture devices in the region!!!)
I am absolutely disappointed with my new IPad Air 5, bought only two weeks ago. The battery drains so fast I can scarcely watch for an evening. My old one used to last all day . I also dislike the unnecessary changes made in systems that needed no change. Not recommended.
Having similar issue with my iPad Air 5. It is barely a week old, installed and updated the latest iPad OS. Battery it drains faster than my 3 year old iPad Pro 2 gen. Wish I had paid the extra RM700 to buy the latest iPad Pro with the M2
Im incredibly disappointed with my brand new iPad Air 5 generation because of one reason. The battery life is horrible, not just bad, it’s horrible. My iPhone 14 Pro Max is spectacular and has great battery life. Why on earth would Apple release such a poor product as the iPad Air M1 chip 5th generation, got me.
I’m totally disappointed with my four month old iPad Air.the battery drained incredibly fast. And now it’s totally dead won’t charge at all .I’m really angry that I have to drive twenty miles to get it fixed. My six year old iPad Pro has better battery life than this p.o.s.
