usb-c port not working, MacBook Air m1 - Manufacturing defect?

Just 4 days pass it's 12 month anniversary, and the port closest to the screen does not work. (verified in safe mode and with different cables/chargers - no charge, no data. nada. )

It seems other people have had issues with this same port, and I have to wonder if there is a manufacturing issue?

I have never used any charger with the MacBook except for the apple supplied one, and the only other thing previously plugged in there is a non powered usb-c dock for mouse and display port input.

Previously I had a 2012 MacBook Pro that I traded in for this machine, and now I'm somewhat discouraged about build quality.

Presumably this is going to be an expensive repair, with a whole board being replaced. :(

Now fixed for less than £50!

I followed an iFixit guide and bought a replacement board for £11.99. ( see link below ) The supplied tools were useless, so also bought a 64 bit toolset from iFixit, and it’s done 🎉

It was fairly straightforward to do.

I have an intel MacBook Pro 13 inch. This issue started happening to me too right after the Monterey 12.4 update. Surprisingly my USB cable stopped working entirely after 1 or 2 days of the update. I bought a new usb c cable and that one also stopped working after two days of usage. They really messed up something with this update
