I just activated my new iPhone 14 Pro Max about a week ago and I am having the same issue. My phone is not sending the notification sounds when I have messages as well as many other apps while in the Lock Screen. All the settings are correct. I see I am not alone with this problem, when will there be a fix, you pay too much money for these expensive phones and it cannot provide you the basic feature you need on a daily basis.

It appears that the IPhone Pro Max does not play nicely with the Watch 8. Others with YEARS of Iphone experience, (infact with the same Iphone) have confirmed my Iphone setting and still WHEN THE PHONE IS LOCKED, THERE IS NO SOUND NOTIFICATION WITH TEXT MESSAGES. THIS IS MY WORK PHONE AND I HAVE MISSED IMPORTANT TEXT MESSAGES BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT.

A lot of suggestions but the challenge is figuring out what may work because it's erratic. I too, have had this many years all the way back to my iPhone X and seem to have tried EVERYTHING. ~1 week in and someone suggested changing the Messages setting on my iWatch away from "Mirror my iPhone" to "Custom". I tried this and it seems to be working. Again, about 1 week so far so we'll see but try this if you haven't yet.

I agree. We pay big bucks for Apple products, and I am really unhappy with my phone. The only reason I stick with their products is because my husband learned how to use the iPad and he’s not real savvy with electronics. So he doesn’t want to learn any other product. But I guess Samsung has their problems too. As soon as I can upgrade, I’ll get rid of my iPhone.

Here are some steps to help you troubleshoot the problem:

Check Your Volume Settings:

Ensure that your iPhone's volume is turned up and not on silent mode. To do this, toggle the switch on the side of your iPhone to ensure that it is not set to silent.

Check Your Notification Settings:

Ensure your notifications are not silent. Go to the Settings app, select "Sounds & Haptics," and then scroll down to "Sounds and Vibration Patterns." From there, you can choose different sounds for your notifications.

Check Your Do Not Disturb Settings:

Ensure you do not have the "Do Not Disturb" feature turned on. This will silence all notifications and calls. You can check this by going to Settings > Do Not Disturb.

Restart Your iPhone:

Sometimes, simply restarting your iPhone can fix any software issues that might be causing your notification sounds not to work.

Update Your iPhone:

Check if your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS. If not, go to Settings > General > Software Update and install any available updates.

Check App Settings:

Ensure that each app's notification settings are turned on and not set to silent.

To do this, go to Settings > Notifications, then select the app you are struggling with.

Reset Your iPhone Settings:

You can reset your iPhone's settings if none of the above steps work. This will not erase any data but reset all of your iPhone's settings to their default values.

Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings to do this.

Contact Apple Support:

If none of the above steps work, you can contact Apple Support for further assistance. They may be able to diagnose and fix the issue or provide you with a replacement if necessary.

I stopped Apple Watch mirroring and this seems to have worked for me for a couple of weeks now. Got this recommendation from someone else on this thread.

Go to Settings > Accessibility > Apple Watch Mirroring and disable this.

I've had this issue for years across iPhone X to iPhone 14 Pro and this is the first and only suggestion that work for me to solve this problem.

iPhone 14 Pro Max running iOS 16.5 Bought May 23rd 2023, USA to upgrade

Does not make a sound when receiving a text.

However, it will ring when receiving a phone call.

I have tried turn blue tooth off, reboot IPhone, turn blue tooth back on it lasts for a day then

back to no sound when I receive a text.

Kind of the same thing iPhone 14 Pro Max running iOS 16.5 does not make a sound when receiving a text.

It sounds as if you have a very different problem than the subject of this thread. It will be more polite to the original poster (and the others who have the same problem) and you'll get more and better help if you start your own thread.
