iOS 16.1 Face ID not working

14 Pro Max also Face ID is not working after update. I did not opt in for the warranty but this is a aft Warw issue, not hardware issue. Apple needs new software update to fix this issue.

Thousands of defective phones. Same problem after update on xs max. I downgraded to 15.7 but unfortunately the problem persists

I just updated to 16.2. No change. Completely stopped working. I’ll just have to take it into apple and have them waste 40 minutes doing the same testing i just did before giving me a new phone, lol.

Luckily, this is the first time apple has broken something with an update for me

Interesting, I considered trying the 16.2 beta but I saw the public betas seemed really buggy (I mean, betas...).

It will be interesting to see if your new phone works nice, I'll give an update when I got my replacement, hopefully Tomorrow evening.

After updating I noticed several issues. Face ID works most of the time but not always. However some apps now crash when I open them, my screen background photo suddenly disappears at random times so I have to reset my phone for it to pop back up. Also having wifi issues at times and problems making phone calls. Overall just a really bad messy update after 16.1

There is severe touch issue that has appeared after shifting to iOS 16.1

the right side of the phone has lost touch. Making partially useless. So much for iOS and tech - battery draining continues unabated. Misery galore!!

Land up in their service station they ask for money to look into problems created by the company - complete scam run by iPhone

It is so frustrating that I have made up my mind to port out of IPhone / iOS Enviroment completely

Apple should change our software back to the earlier version - it is so frustrating now we will be forced to migrate to other brand of devices

how irresponsible and callous are the team that they do not take any action

If anyone can get it to work for more than a day or two please let us know.

I can reset my phone, sometimes turn it off and on a few times and face ID will reset , however it does not last more than 2 days at most.

iOS16.1.1 update causing nothing but trouble. BT connection to car now buggy w calls crackling and barely understandable. Siri randomly dropping. And not able to search the web while in a car by voice even when Focus is off (deleted). The local Apple Store techs were useless.

I have the exact same problem iPhone 13pro max. But it happened after the update to 16.1.1 .

I can’t even register a new one just like you said it always says go up or down.

I tried resetting the device multiple times nothing helps. So now I’m stuck either the 6 Number code. It’s really annoying.

Same here on 13 pro after 16.1. Most of the time of the day face id is not working and asking for a passcode immediately before even trying to recognize my face, like it's completely off.

Sometimes it starting to work, but for a short period of time. Tried almost everything: alternative appearance, dfu, reset face id, vpn profiles deletion – nothing.

This is absolutely scandalous by Apple. Imagine wrecking perfectly functioning phones that are out of warranty by pushing a bad update, whether it was by accident or otherwise. The worst thing about it is that they mark the Face ID camera as bad in non-volatile phone memory, so resetting the phone doesn't help.

They need to fix this, pronto.

Yeah, and if you are out of warranty and had a perfectly working phone ruined by an update you didn't ask for, then what?

Pay Apple a couple of hundred bucks for the privilege of them fixing something that they broke in the first place?
