My iPhone's camera is not working correctly and it looks blurred

This software toggle automatically between lenses. 99,99% of other software don’t do that and will never do.

It would not explain why local camera apps has no issues with a clear closed up image. It does not just affect scanning of qr codes. Closed up Photos and videos in general are fuzzy and not sharp at all on 3rd party apps on my iphone 14 pro.

Hi Dogcow-Moof, this is exactly the problem. Some qr codes are too small and there is no possibility to read them.

Some bar codes are not perfectly printed, so we need to go closer, but in this situation, camera goes out of focus.

When the developer choose "rear-camera", OS need to toogle automaticaly to macro lenses when needed.

That's just it, there aren't QR codes that are too small to read; I just used Code Reader to read one of the smallest codes I could find at 3/8" square; perhaps you can point me to smaller ones.

The camera doesn't go out of focus, in fact it gets in sharper focus as you move away.

Dogcow-Moof, you seem to dismiss everyone's complaints about the inability to scan barcodes and QR codes. I raised this issue late last year when I changed from iPhone 11 to iPhone 14 Pro Max. I called the third-party vendor of the barcode scanner developer, and he said Apple needs to fix it. Now I see you state that the 3rd party vendors need to fix their end. To this day, I cannot scan bar codes affixed on many of our company assets with my current phone 14 Pro Max. We rely on a couple of individuals with an older Android phone that works perfectly. I regret switching to the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

I've yet to find a bar or QR code I can't scan.

Download and try the free Scandit app; it seems to be able to scan virtually anything.

Don't try and fill a box with a bar code, simply back up to where the bar code is in focus, it seriously works every time.

If you really regret switching, sell your iPhone 14 Pro Max - they retain their values well - and purchase an Android if that would make you happier.

Scandit works really well, and if it can do it, other app vendors can too.

If other app makers don't want to put in the effort, that can't be helped and is no fault of Apple's.

The problem is not the camera app scanning barcodes, but apps that use the camera to scan bar codes.

One example: Google Authenticator. When you use the app to scan a barcode, in my case transferring my Google Authenticator accounts from an iPhone 8 to the iPhone 14, the iPhone 14 could not scan the Google Authenticator's produced bar code on the iPhone 8, because it was blurry on the iPhone 14.

OK, try an asset tracking app: AssetTiger.

We have 18 out of 31 individuals who cannot scan the AssetTiger-generated barcodes with their iPhone 14 Pro Max due to blurriness. The remaining individuals can read as before since they have older phones, iPhone 11, and some Android phones. If numerous users claim iPhone 14 Pro Max blurriness, your dismissive response is not welcome. We should let an Apple Professional provide a solution, not avoid the problem.

Hi there, it seems to affect all 3rd party apps. Google lens, whatsapp, telegram.. to name a few. ios 16.2 did not help with this issue.

Nothing to worry. There is a simple solution for that: ALL millions developers over the world just need to update their apps....

Even code scanner app from control center does not focus correctly qr codes.

This is an iOS problem that must be fixed by Apple!

It doesn't work. That's the problem most people are complaining. The Camera App re-focus when you move in and out, lots of apps don't.

I have this issue when using Skype and zoom, and taking a photo for ID verification with the likes of Revolut and Wise has been a nightmare. Very, very unimpressed with this and lack of progress with a fix (now on iOS 16.2 and no change).

They all do, regularly.

Look at your App Store listings and see how frequently they do; for some its more often than once per week.

Certainly they will if their app is not functioning properly with a new release of iOS, and if they don't, people stop using their app.
