There is a workaround. Press volume up button (on phone) before answering the call and it will work

It is definitely worth checking apps with Bluetooth access. I do not have “tile” but I do have “nanoleaf”. Once I turned off Bluetooth access in the nanoleaf settings I received my first ever successful incoming call. Too early to say if it permanently fixes this issue with the iPhone XS Max and Air Pods Pro 2. I have tried all other steps including completely resetting both devices.

So now the AirPods Pro 2 disconnect without warning and hang up a call. Up until recently, I would use them after I started a call with someone. Now they are 100% useless. So after all this time they have officially become as useful as a rock. What would Steve Jobs say to this? I am actually amazed they do not seem to care about their customers anymore. I am currently a 100% Apple environment, but I may have to rethink this. I think the way they are handling an understandable software glitch is showing how the company has changed in recent years. Buying another iPhone is just kicking the can down the road for when this issues happens with the next version. Very disappointing to actually have proof how much you mean to the company you spend your money with.

I’m using AirPods Pro 2nd gen I have facing same issue. While receiving the calls disconnected automatically and reconnecting again after 20 to 30s. It’s only problem with iPhone XS , XS max. See Apple team if you are not fixing the issue then why your mentioned compatibility list in AirPods pro 2nd gen page. There you have clearly mentioned AirPods Pro 2nd gen compatible with iPhone XS Max but, why we have facing connectivity issue. We need solutions for this issue or else just take back the products and refund the money that’s it. Customers not a fools okay. We are believing the Apple products and your promise but, you guys are not following for promised words. Apple products cost is very high but, we believe it’s good products but now money wasted. My salary is very low then also I bought your product but, now I’m facing the issues. See clearly tell us what’s the solution for this issue. We need justice for this issue.

It might be the iPhone and NOT the AirPods.

iPhone 13 Pro here using three different sets of AirPods that all disconnect and reconnect repeatedly when accepting and/or making calls. Two sets of AirPod (2nd Gen) and a new pair of AirPod Max's, all fully charged and have been reset multiple times in an effort to correct this issue. The iPhone has been restarted, the settings reset and the iOS is up-to-date.

Restarting, resetting, forgetting devices and reconnecting, updating all do nothing to fix the problem.

It became evident it could NOT be the AirPods because the issue is happening to all 3 sets of AirPods and the iPhone is the only common denominator. Apple support also requested a report log be sent to them and they could not find any issues with Bluetooth nor anything else.

Because all the items are under warranty, Apple just sent me a replacement iPhone 13 Pro and so far this is the only thing that has corrected the issue. I was required I make a $1,000 payment in advance which will apparently be refunded to me when the old iPhone is returned (not sure this is how warranties are supposed to work).

So, far, I haven't had any disconnect or connecting issues with the replacement iPhone in the last 48 hours.

In my case, it isn't a problem with the AirPods. I have 3 sets of AirPods and it happens with all of them. Therefore, it has to be the iPhone. When I pointed this out the Apple Representative, they agreed and sent me a new iPhone. Obviously, we exhausted every scenario from restarting to resetting everything and all the updates. I just got my new replacement iPhone and so for I haven't had an issue for 48 hours.

@lathamtom989 Please keep such advice to yourself, as you are misleading people.

Apple Support will have access to more extensive troubleshooting resources and can help you find a resolution to the problem. https://clearpathpackaging.com/custom-pre-roll-boxes/

You are audacious directing people to a website unrelated to the topic. Hey People! Don't open the link lathamtom989

provided.

The issue is known to Apple, and the only solution is a software update for the headphones or iOS.

All advice like "disconnect," "reset," or "reconnect" is futile.

So Apple... where are you?

Same issue with XS. I was told to get a newer iPhone. Does not make sense.
One way to get to use the AirPods is to switch call to phone then to speakerphone then to AirPods. Defeats the purpose of having AirPods in the first place.

Who gives such wise advice? Facepalm... But the switching takes about 30

seconds and is very inconvenient.

This is not a solution, Apple...

Because this was happening with multiple AirPods, including a new pair of AirPods Max, Apple sent me a new phone. This did not resolve the problem. The Apple support person suggested I erase my phone and set it up as a new device without doing my back up. Because I use my phone for business and have lots of apps and data that I need to have access to, I did an erase with a restore from iCloud and still had the disconnect/connect issue. Then I did reset of the network settings, which also did not correct the issue. Finally, I did a reset of all settings and this seems to have greatly improved connectivity. In four days I have only had the disconnect issue perhaps three times as opposed to continuously all day. I’ll continue to work with us throughout the next week and will report back.

krmiarc238 With a respect, you have no idea what you’re talking about. Do you seriously think for one minute that a group of people who are having a constant issue with their AirPods disconnecting and reconnecting over and over again when receiving or making phone calls wouldn’t have tried the most basic of actions?

It’s apparent you haven’t read any of our histories regarding this issue.

Restarting, manually disconnecting and repairing our AirPods do not correct the issue.

I personally have been working with several Apple reps on this issue. Every possible fix has been tried, including replacing the iPhone. If the new iPhone is restored with the backup, the problem will persist in the same way & frequency. In my case as much 50% of calls will result in a Bluetooth disconnect.

so far, the only thing that has had any affect at all is to “Erase All Setting” which has reduced the cycle of constantly disconnecting & reconnecting with phone calls.

Please stay out of this conversation if you have nothing helpful to contribute.

This does not make sense...

It must be clear answer, works or not. In most cases it does not work for People...

Camera works perfect, there are no reduced issues with Camera after "Erase All Settings"...

Hey Apple, are you there? What's the status of developing a fix?
