Unknown password for Macbook Air M1

I have a MacBook Air (M1, 2020), running Monterey 12.6.3. I keep trying to upgrade to Ventura 13.2.1. I agree to the license, but when I enter my password, all the box does is shake. I tried reloading my current operating system from time machine, as well as downloading my operating system from the internet.

The shaking password box indicates you are entering a wrong password.

Make sure you are entering the correct password it is asking for. Generally the administrator password for the Mac, not your Apple ID password.

I plan to call the Apple Help line again next month. Everything indicates I am logging in as the Administrator, I can unlock and set up a different administrator, but nothing seems to work. The last person thought maybe it was a bug in the download itself. I thought I would give it a rest and try again next month. Another suggestion was to totally erase my hard drive and all data on it. Not thrilled about that idea, but maybe.
