5g not working since iOS 16.4 upgrade

Let's see, millions of people with the same phone and the same carrier running the same version of iOS are not experiencing the problem.

That puts it squarely in the carrier's camp and some type of issue with your local tower and towers and/or your account.

I have the same issue on T-Mobile. Spent an hour going through troubleshooting and then they told me about this issue for 13 Pro Max and Apple is apparently working on a fix. Stuck on LTE for now it seems

It was an apple issue for me too, I contacted my carrier service first and it didnt solve the problem. After following this thread, someone suggested to reset the network settings so i did that and change from LTE to 5g on and it worked. Definitely an apple problem.

If it were great on their end, you wouldn't be experiencing the issue; if it were an issue with iOS 16.4, we'd see a huge number of posts from people experiencing the same issue.

Your service provider is incorrect.

There are literally millions of users with the same device running the same version of iOS using 5G without issue on their network.

If your carrier account is not setup to offer 5G service that option may not appear even grayed out.

Do you still see the other 5G options?

Found the solution. It's problem with iOS itself. Go to reset and reset network settings. It will restart the phone and the problem is solved.

Again, contact your cellular carrier.

The cellular tower has complete control over whether you are assigned to a 5G band or not depending upon congestion and other factors.

I think you are incorrect. I am having the same problem with iOS 16.4/16.4.1 I even changed from eSIM to Physical SIM. The network is good enough. I cannot see 5G standalone toggle though. It's Apple problem. The same issue is happening with both my SIMs. All over the city.

Whereas previously 5G was the norm and 4G LTE was very seldom.

If not, you can't directly compare say, an iPhone 13 against an iPhone 12 with the same SIM card; the capabilities of the devices are different, and that's where carrier configuration of your local cell tower comes into play.

Well, I am switching from Netherlands to Estonia using iPhone 14 and latest iOS. Before iOS 16.4 5G was working fine for both carriers and even when roaming across countries. I have tried all recommendations from reset, to airplane mode. Everything! Still not working. So, your suggestion is that I call all carriers in Europe? This is Apple’s task, not mine! Remember that this is not a new problem. All dual-sim iPhones had the same problem a couple of years back and Apple fixed it with a new iOS release.
