My iPad Pro 10.5 updated to 16.5 earlier today and I now have the same issue. It used to charge via the adaptor fine. iPad still charges ok without the adaptor which suggests the issue is with the adaptor.

After updating have same problem. I CANT work!!!! My cardreader doesnt work without external plugin. WTF Apple?. In one moment you arent able to use your camera & ipad. Its not reliable. Time switching to Samsung

I have the same charging problem with my iPad Air (3rd gen) and the USB Camera Adapter A1619 (firmware 1.0.5).

I tried to use the link suggested by LotusPilot to officially open a bug, and I incredibly found out that the field form used to specify the iPadOS version didn't either list the 16.5 version.

How is it possible? Does anyone really read the issues submitted via this form? Does Apple really care about user's feedback?

What @caccio wrote and correctly was that the feedback form itself was and is broken. iOS versions, for any device regardless if for iPhone or iPad, doesn't list 16.5, only up to 16.4.1.

They didn't ask about workarounds or how to file feedback etc. Anyway, that may be a contributor fact as to loss of feedback on 16.5.

Workaround 20w power adapter and usb-c to lightning cable will charge my 2nd gen Ipad Pro now, but usb midi device still has 'insufficient power'.

The 10w original power and usb adapter worked fine on 16.4 when working with disabled clients to bring some joy into their lives, making music.

Thanks a million Janosax, I tried your fix and it works!!! Very disappointed in Apple. Pulling my hair for weeks!!! I too use a Scarlett Solo with a condenser mic that needs phantom power. I am using my Macbook Air M1 charger with usb-c connector on charger end and lightning connector going into the camera adapter.

Still an issue and is messing up my midi keyboard set-up. This is really bugging me. I am a total numpty when it comes to these things. Is there a way to workaround this issue - there as been mention of using a charger but I do not really understand that! Thanks

I've upgraded my 6th generation iPad to 16.5.1 and charging via the Usb camera adapter works with a normal lighting charger (not type C). But can anyone tell me if your 9th generation iPad, which is upgraded to 16.5.1, already works charging via the Usb camera adapter with a regular lighting charger (not type C)? I am hesitant to upgrade my 9th generation iPad to 16.5.1 yet.

I just updated to 16.6 and this was not fixed. I have an iPhone eight I’m using Apple cords. In addition, a friend of mine has an iPhone 14 Pro and now his charger doesn’t work either. What’s up apple can’t you fix it?

I have the same issue as the rest of you on a 11” iPad Pro 3rd generation running iOS 16.6.1…Problem makes iPad impractical for live work and inconvenient for the studio. I sure hope someone at Apple is working on this with new firmware or a software update. I have a lot invested in their hardware and software and I expect it to work or what is the point. Too much invested to start over on a new platform so kinda stuck.

5th gen iPad with the same issue. After update I can’t charge thru camera adapter w/ charging port. Hardware works perfectly w/ iPhone!

I have the same problem with my iPad 7th gen. and iPhone SE2. CCK The charging port will not work for the iPad and iPhone anymore after 16.5 update.

I have checked the firmware of the camera adapter and its the same you display.

I have downgraded to IOS 16.4.1 and the problem persists!

Apple, please provide a solution soon.
