I was able to find the .mp3 in ~/Library/Group Containers/243LU875E5.groups.com.apple.podcasts/Library/Cache - it will have some gibberish name but you can use the download date and in some cases the podcast art as the file image to identify the one you are looking for. From there you can drag the file to your desktop or wherever.

Has anyone figured this out? My Macbook Air uses Ventura and I can't move a downloaded Apple Podcast episode to my computer. I just got a pair of the Shokz OpenSwim & I am trying to figure out how to download the podcast episode as an MP3 onto my device. I can't even get the podcast episode out of the Podcast app & I can't access the podcast episode through Apple Music either. Help?
You cannot drag and drop. Has anyone solved this? Ventura seems to have also negated the ability to get the old route through the Library as well. I use an mp3 player when I swim laps like millions of swimmers...
Thank you! For anyone that might not know how to get there, open finder, go to the "Go" menu item, and choose "Go To Folder." Copy that folder path neonpearl provided and you'll see all podcasts in .mp3 format.
To download podcast episodes easily, find the podcast's RSS feed link on Episodes.fm (https://episodes.fm/), click the "•••" menu, copy the RSS link, and open it in a new browser tab. You'll see a list of episodes with a built-in media player, and you can download them directly from there. Enjoy your favorite podcasts anytime, anywhere! 🎧😊
This information applies to Catalina: Ventura may be similar. Once you have downloaded an episode, drag it to the Desktop. If it isn't already in mp3 format you can convert it in Apple Music.
In Apple Music Preferences>Files click the Import Setting button and choose mp3 format, and specify a bitrate.
Not drag your downloaded episdoe into the Music App. Selec it and from menu File>Convert choose 'MP3 file'. Drag the converted file to the Desktop and delete the two copies in Music.
Other editing programs such as Audacity can save directly in MP3 format.
I'm having the same issue.
Dragging into desktop does not work on Ventura.
Going to the Library folder shows all the podcasts in .movpkg format, even for audio podcasts (which previously were downloaded as .mp3)
I'd be grateful for suggestions and tips how to solve this.
What other way did you figure out?
I can't post a movie here; perhaps the image below will help. Subscribe to the podcast, and if necessary download required episode. Click and hold on its title then drag off the window to the Desktop. I'm assuming in this that you are using a Mac since that's what's listed in your first post. If you're using an iOS device I can't help you. I'm also assuming that drag and drop works the same in Ventura as for previous OSs.
On MacOS ventura it doesn't work :'(
But it's ok, I found another way that doesn't require an mp3 player
Thank you for your answer
Okay, but how do I drag it to the desktop? And if I want to automate the action with a python script. Aren't the podcasts stored somewhere in a folder?
Humm... I don't now how to drag and drop a podcast with apple podcaste app do you have a video or image ?
You can drag it directly from the Podcasts app provided you have already downloaded it. I can't answer for automation.
