After WatchOS 10 update I cannot swipe between watch faces

Not sure if this is just me or did Apple just remove the ability to swipe between watch faces? After updating, the only way to get to the neighboring watch face is to long-press to (brings up the edit button) and then I can move to a neighboring watch face. If that's intentional, that sucks. I use four neighboring faces for different purposes and am swiping between them constantly. This will make using the watch very laborious for me.

If it is not an intentional removal of a critical feature, and it's just me. What do I do to restore that most basic of functions? The watch is a Series 5 white ceramic.

Thanks.

WatchOS 10.2 is out and the swipe to change the watch face is now an option to toggle on and off.

Go to Settings>Clock.

I also wondered why Apple would do such a thing, and had been astounded till I saw the event on the 12th. Because that’s when I saw the new module face for the ultra, and realized it’s clearly become a paid functionality thing to actually have quick access to more than 6 complications.

It’s a real dirty move by Apple, and literally makes me not want to upgrade past the watch I have now- especially considering how much less functional it is now than when I bought it xD

The Infograph face has up to 8 complications, but even so - A single face with 8 complications , plus 7 widgets in the new Smart Stack, plus 3 more complications - still isn’t enough for me .

In os9 I had 3 Infograph faces and 3 Modular faces , that’s 42 complications.

It’s impossible to reconfigure my 6 faces to fit the new os10 UI with only one face plus full use of the Smart Stack. Unfortunately, using more than one face, the swiping limitation really ruins the whole experience.

I’ve tried to love Smart Stacks, tried to forget swipe to my (many) watch-faces. I’m left dazed and confused.

New UX’s are sometimes a painful transition to something better. Not this time.  Try navigating through stacks in the middle of a run in bright sunlight.  Or press-hold-swipe a few times while you run. You will look and feel ridiculous.

I will come back and say it isn't quite as bad as I thought. Swipe is gone but I thought it impossible to move on watch from face to face which is still here. They just added extra steps which is one of Apple's specialties. Ever try to take a picture ? remember just being able to click once to do things ? Steve is rolling over in his grave watching one click regularly turn into 15.

I can swipe between faces, but my complications for Weather are totally screwed! There’s nothing but a (_ _ _) in the comp area. I have wiped my watch, clean twice, didn’t help on and off, didn’t help I don’t want to go and do the always on button which may have said because I don’t want my battery dying down fast, but I did try it and that did not help anything at all. Hopefully a fix will come soon.

Tell us how turning a single intuitive finger-flick into a process of taps and holds and selections is better or easier.

No video needed. We are all aware of how editing a watch face has been done for years.

We're discussing the removal of the user interface that enabled users to observe numerous data points with a few precise and predicable flicks of a finger tip and the ability to open apps from a concise personalized screen.

Apple has taken steps to complicate the Apple Watch user interface. This is an unambiguous measurable fact. If you and others prefer a slower and more complicated user experience, that's fine. For those of us who use this device to acquire a lot of data with a simple glance and an unimpeded finger flick or two, the changes have made it prohibitively more difficult to use the watch at all.
