Updated my iPhone 11 to.ios 17.01 last night. Since then, my face id won't work. I get error messages or it says face id not available. I thought I could reset face ID but it's not letting me do that either
. Rebooting the phone didn't help. Everything was working fine until the ios 17 update finished installing.

First of all you should try to restart your device( different way ) : go to settings > General > their shutdown, wait for a few minutes then power it on. Make sure your notch area is clean and clear. you said you already reset face id then skip this step. If nothing else works then according to them erase all content from your phone hope this step will fix the issue. For the steps please refer to the guide I mentioned.
I did what an AT&T representative told me to do last Monday and it worked temporarily. I have been doing a soft shutdown at least twice a day, sometimes 3 times. The latest software fix is a disaster. Me and everyone else paid a lot of money for our phones. And whether we can afford to go and purchase a new phone is moot. We are ALL tired of functions not working and want what we pay for.
I had the same issue and I even reset my entire iPhone and Face ID still didn’t work. My best friend said it may be my screen protector because they develop a film on them after awhile around the camera lens. Sure enough I removed my screen protector and my Face ID started working. Not sure if that’s what’s wrong with anyone else’s but I thought I would share it since it helped me.
Resetting does not fix problems created by Apple’s recent update. I spent over 5 hours Saturday with Apple Help trying to get the many major problems created by their update fixed on my iPhone. Unfortunately, after 5 hours they had not fixed anything. INSTEAD, I now have EVEN MORE THINGS BROKEN.

iOS 17.2 est sorti ce soir. Je teste une restauration depuis le MacBook avec téléchargement complet de l'OS. Je pense que certains l'ont déjà tenté mais je n'en suis pas sûr. c'est sensé être plus complet qu'une simple restauration de l'iPhone...
FYI community: apple repaired my iPhone 15Pro due to FaceID issue as a subject of this thread. After the situatiation when FaceID stopped working after iOS update it was self-repaired after ˜24h of tries of everything. In a several weeks the FaceID stopped working again. So I've used official warranty service and service center fully changed my front one and main cameras. So now it's OK.
Sorry to hear this. From reading other posts, restoring will not solve this for more than a few hours. Please let Apple know about this as every single person counts and the more who feedback the sooner they will admit/address it. Feedback - iPhone - Apple

its really important that you do as Apple do not look at this page.
For a small number, the lens and sensor area is dirty and needs to be cleaned. But for many, the True Depth Camera has failed. Apple are no longer investigating this, and believe the majority of cases on this forum are coincidental. Check your warranty, have the phone examined, continue to log your observations / complaints at Feedback - iPhone - Apple
and remember - Apple do NOT gather information from this forum, only through the Feedback page I just provided. Good luck.

je vous invite TOUS à téléphoner car c’est le nombre d’appels qui va prioriser le correctif. Le diagnostic qu’ils ont effectué sur mon téléphone ne présente aucune anomalie hardware. Téléphonez, expliquez calmement que ça marche parfaitement parfois et que c’est depuis iOS 17.01

I just had this problem and saw your solution so I tried it. This worked for me! I toggled "Unlock iPhone" off and on and then was able to reset my Face ID. Thank you :)
J’ai eu une opératrice à qui j’ai parlé de ce forum.
elle n’a pas cherché à me renvoyer vers un problème hardware. Elle a tenté de faire un diagnostic en se connectant à mon téléphone mais ça a échoué : elle me rappellera demain soir.
elle a évoqué le fait que ça puisse être un problème côté Apple mais dans le certifier.
elle souhaite aller au bout du diagnostic de mon téléphone : nous verrons demain et en lancerons un nouveau
aujourd’hui FaceID a mieux fonctionné mais toujours pas comme il devrait, beaucoup d’échecs.
This happened to me too. It caused my phone to get stuck in a reboot loop which resulted in me having to buy a new phone! It really ****** me off!
I have soft reset my iphone multiple times and face id and camera still do not work.

des log ont été collectés des dernières 24H pour analyse par les développeurs.
il me rappelle lundi pour me dire ce qu’il en est.
d’autre utilisateurs sont également pris en charge comme moi. Les choses bougent ils sont en train de s’y pencher c’est évident.
