AirPods not connecting to iPhone after updating to iOS 17

Has anyone had an issue with their AirPods not connecting to their phone after iOS 17 update? My AirPods Pro (1st gen) will not connect to my iPhone 13 Pro Max. When placed in the ears the notification sound to say they’re connected does not happen. Occasionally I get an “AirPods connected” message on my phone, but when I try to play music the sound comes out of my phone, not the AirPods.

I can fix the issue temporarily by forgetting the AirPods device on my phone, then reconnecting them. The sounds come through the AirPods, but when I stop playing music, dock the AirPods to the case and come back to use them later, the issue reappears.

any advice on how to fix would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

I have this issue also. My problem goes even further though as I removed the AirPods Pro from Bluetooth and now my phone will not recognize them at all. I’ve tried every possible way and no matter what my phone just doesn’t recognize them. Everything is updated and everything has a full charge.

Since I updated my iPhone 13 to iOS17.0.3 my AirPod Pro 2 earphones won’t connect. They will connect for a second then I receive a message Not your AirPod Pros - Connect. I’ve reset them, restarted my iPhone, reset the phone back to its factory state. I also face the same problem on my MacBook Air which I’ve upgraded to Sonoma. Anyone know when this will be fixed? This is very disappointing

I just purchased the AirPod pro 2 gen earbuds. When pairing I had to update to the latest iOS version 17. Yesterday, I was able to use them. Today, they won’t connect at all. I tried everything stated on Apple support to fix the issue. Resetting and unpairing. Neither have worked and now that I’ve unpaired, they won’t reconnect to my iPhone 13 Pro. I was trying to determine if it’s a hardware or software issue. Now, I’m leaning towards software since everyone else appears to be complaining about the same thing. Apple please fix this bug as soon as possible.

My new iPhone15 Pro Max has the latest software ios17 and out of the box, I've been experiencing issues with both sets of my AirPods. Apple has tested them and confirmed they're functioning properly, so the issue appears to be with the iOS. When I turn the volume down to a certain level, the audio begins to crackle. Additionally, during noise cancellation, the sound either crackles or goes completely silent.

Updated to 17.1 yesterday, ever hopeful for a fix of this glaring fail. What a fool I was. Airpods pro 2 heroically connected once, right after the installation ended and within a minute disconnected. Further attempts for pairing were all unsuccesfull, rendering these $250 headphones a rather expensive and less effective form of ear plugs.

Goddamnit, Apple. Dropped the ball quite badly.

Hi all, I’ve been following this post hoping to get a solution. I recently moved to another city which has official Apple Store so I took my time to let them check my AirPods Pro 2, since it still has warranty. They have checked and said it’s a fake one which I’m so disappointed. It’s a big lesson for me to learn to not buy any Apple products from anywhere else except Apple Store itself. It functioned so well before iOS 17. I was happy about it. Noise cancelling, mics all worked well till iOS 17 came and killed it. Latest sonoma blocks it as well. Apparently they can multiply so many fake ones using one legit serial number. If you got it secondhand from someone else, I advise you to get it checked. If you got the original ones and still facing the problem, I can’t help you 😅

I’ve been experiencing the same exact thing. Ever since iOS 17 came, my 3rd generation AirPods do not connect to my iPhone 13 well. My right AirPod is not connecting at all. I managed to reconnect them, and the right one stopped working. Nothing wrong with them. I am kinda regretting downloading the new iOS. I have had other glitchy issues with it.

It is an iOS 17 issue for sure. There are so many other bugs I am coming across with the 17.1 update. My lock screen widgets are all off center (since 17.0, still not fixed) my games are constantly glitching during play, when setting a timer with Siri it always goes back to the default "radial" alarm even though I use a different sound (this never happened with previous iOS versions), after traveling across the country my device didn't update my time zone automatically. With my Airpods, not only do I have to continually reconnect them, I also lose the left side and also get interference between them during use

Powerbeats pro with iPhone 13 having same issue. Especially when making a call. It doesn’t necessarily disconnect but no one can hear me and I can’t hear anything. I have to tap speaker or iPhone for sound and then tap on the beats headphones again. Is really affecting work calls in a bad way. Super disappointed. Also calls are barely going through
