iPhone 15 Pro Max Wi-Fi Issues

I Hope apple or others can help me out - I’m having issues with WiFi on the IPhone 15 Pro Max

myself and others are having issues with using WiFi and 160hz - many have raised issues on Reddit posts - some cannot connect to there WiFi at all and others can connect like myself but have random issues with no internet from time to time

Mines working on 5GHz 160hz, but sometimes I’ll just have no internet connection (it’s still connected to the WiFi) - I have to disconnect from the WiFi and connect again for it to work.

I’m using ASUS RT-AX82U - 5GHz allowed Upto 160hz - I’m running 1gig internet so last thing I want to do is try running at 80hz as I’ll loose speed

When it does work it works great 😊

PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP APPLE

I've got a fix!!! This was frustrating me to no end. Went to Apple store and talked with one of the experienced techs. He said the issue is the iPhone when you import from an old iPhone imports non-ideal network settings, not just your old iPhone passwords. Fix is below.

Network -> General -> Transfer or Reset iPhone -> Reset Network Settings

Wifi has been working like a charm since I did this. Read about this for hours and never saw this suggested anywhere else so figured I'd contribute.

Does your router even support wifi 6e? If so, it may have AFC enabled or always on for use of the 6Ghz channels. If it does have AFC enabled/on the router will follow rules of use of the channels similar to 5Ghz DFS channels. Basically you can get kicked off the channel your router is using and your router may or may not switch you to a non-AFC channel.

If you don’t want to deal with this AFC/DFS channel rules you will have to setup a SSID with channels and bandwidth that don’t overlap with DFS or AFC channels.

DFS rules basically started with wifi6 prior to wifi 6e.

There are over 47,000 licensed AFC users that can force your wifi 6e router to kick you off the channel you are using.

Yes, 15 Pro and Max both support wifi 6e so the 6Ghz channels are available.

Maybe AFC licensed user in your area is kicking your router off 6Ghz channels, which must also support wifi 6e 6Ghz channels.

You should be near your router to make sure the signal strength is not an issue.

Google search for free wifi spectrum scanner apps for your PC or laptop.

These will map out all the router’s and SSID’s near you.

Make sure the scanner works with wifi 6e to be able to scan the 6Ghz.

I believe the computer/laptop must support wifi 6e as well. My PC has an adapter so I plan to upgrade it to a wifi6e version.

Maybe someone help this:

I was search for solution to get work 6E on my iPhone 15 pro, because at first when I just receive phone it was available to see and connect to 6E but after I restore it from my precious iPhone 14 pro copy wifi 6E cant be find. So I am make some tests reset my phone again and start from that point that it see 6E connection without any problems when it factory reset state.

So I setup it like new device and when I was enable Location Services it immediately disconnect me from 6E wifi connection and not see it more again.

So I go to Settings - Privacy & Security - Location Services - System Services and turned off Networking & Wireless and its connected to 6E WiFi again and working flawlessly on 160 mhz with 900+ mbps again.

For me it seems that Apple restricted 6E in Ukraine (where originally 6E not restricted) or its some kind of bug.

Nice to hear you found a work around.

Until the 15Pro/max, apple has never had to design or test use of 160Mhz with DFS. To make it more complex, wifi6e supported in the 15Pro/max must design and test AFC when the 6Ghz channels are being used. AFC is similar to DFS in that any licensed user can automatically tell your router to kick you off the channels overlapping with wifi 6 and 6e.

Setting up different SSID’s as you did is a normal practice when setting up a wifi network. It’s expected to have to do this level of network management.

Until the 15Pro/max apple users never had to deal with 160Mhz or DFS or AFC. The bandwidth was limited to 80Mhz and that meant no support for channels in the DFS spectrum.

I too am having the same issue. One temporary fix for me has been to go in to the settings on the Wifi network and disable 6e. This seems to be a bandaid. However if I leave the Wifi area it turns back on when I reconnect to the network. I am going to setup my EERO Pro 6 Network (non 6e). If it is 6e, hopefully this will solve it. Unfortunate, but I am not sure what else to do.

I’ve been having the same issue but I don’t think it’s entirely a problem with the router. (its scaring me that it might be hardware)

Both my brother and I got the 15 pro and his phone connects flawlessly to our wifi with no issues while mine either connects with no internet for a few minutes or can’t connect at all.

This issue was a problem from the very start where it took 3+ hours to download a backup from last month when starting up the device.

network settings were reset, router reset, and the phone was completely wiped and the issue still persists.

i took the phone in and it passed diagnostics with “flying colours” according to the technician . Sucks that I can’t get a replacement before I move to Spain :(

Also having issues here using Eero 6e router with iPhone 15 Pro. Connectivity problems happen in areas of my house on the boundary between 2.4/5GHz network ranges. Seems like the iPhone can't decide which side of the network it wants to stay on and is suboptimally choosing the 5GHz resulting in zero connectivity. No other devices (including my years old Android phone) have issues in these areas of the house.

Eero doesn't allow too much play with network settings so waiting on a fix. Happy to provide any logs or hook up my OSS router and capture packets or whatever, just let me know.

Use caution when judging connections using the Wi-Fi signal bars; only seeing "full signal" next to the router may be correct, depending upon your device and router.

The newer Wi-Fi frequencies have much shorter ranges than the old ones, though they can be faster at shorter range than other connections.

The newer Wi-Fi 6E technology as supported in the iPhone 15 Pro and ProMax uses three frequency bands, 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz.

  • When connected to the 6 GHz band, a signal will in most cases not reach more than fifty feet.
  • On the 5 GHz band coverage may also be fifty feet or less.
  • Finally, the 2.4 GHz band is what you are usually connected to across a house or commercial building.

For those with technical minds, at two meters, free space path loss is 46 dB for 2.4 GHz, 53 dB for 5 GHz, and 55 dB for 6 GHz, or coverage on the 6 GHz band drops off around 2 dB in the first meter as compared to a 5 GHz signal, which itself drops off 7 dB more in that first meter than a 2.4 GHz signal.

This means you may see a lower signal in terms of Wi-Fi signal bars, but it may still be a faster, more robust connection than you had with past devices.

Since only a few newer Apple devices:

  • MacBook Pro (14-inch, 2023) or MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2023)
  • Mac mini (2023)
  • Mac Studio (2023)
  • Mac Pro (2023)
  • iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max
  • iPad Pro 11-inch (4th generation) or iPad Pro 12.9 inch (6th generation)

support Wi-Fi 6E, if you have a 6E-capable router your new device may be the first to use the newer frequencies and therefore may show a lower signal strength connected to the same SSID as older devices.

Hello guys thanks all For the pressure here in the chat it seems it helps , I have test the merge 2.4 and 5 WiFi network after the upgrade and it is more stable it seems apple want to cover it as a minor correction on the release notes , at the end I think as a company said that it was another bug impacts there stock market but anyway it seems the problem has gone for 2.4 and 5 I will test the wifi6e in order to see how it behaves.

Turning off VPN is not the solution. We never have used a VPN and still have the same issues as many others. My 5ghz bandwidth only goes up to 80hz so that is not the solution either to turn of 160hz.

We have updated our iPhone 15 devices to iOS 17.1 and we still have the same issues. So use of a VPN or 160hz bandwidth is not the sole reason for these issues because we use neither. All other Apple devices in our house are on the latest software and don't have internet or data issues. It is specific to iPhone 15 devices.

How far from your device are you? Maximum speeds on Wi-FI 6 are severely limited to close proximity of the router; for the 6 GHz band of Wi-Fi 6E, you usually need to be within the same room and within line of sight.

Note also you need to be running the most recent firmware available for your device; it looks like at present the last upgrade for the Amplifi Alien was released September 13:
