iPhone 15 Pro Max Wi-Fi Issues

I Hope apple or others can help me out - I’m having issues with WiFi on the IPhone 15 Pro Max

myself and others are having issues with using WiFi and 160hz - many have raised issues on Reddit posts - some cannot connect to there WiFi at all and others can connect like myself but have random issues with no internet from time to time

Mines working on 5GHz 160hz, but sometimes I’ll just have no internet connection (it’s still connected to the WiFi) - I have to disconnect from the WiFi and connect again for it to work.

I’m using ASUS RT-AX82U - 5GHz allowed Upto 160hz - I’m running 1gig internet so last thing I want to do is try running at 80hz as I’ll loose speed

When it does work it works great 😊

PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP APPLE

2.4 band works fine as a stop gap. Not ideal solution but it has been stable for over 24 hours.

I engaged support again today and finally got someone to acknowledge that this is a known, systematic issue and that they are working on a fix. There was, of course, no ETA or indication of how the fix will be issued.

From support chat:

We are further investigating this and please do rest assure that we are all working and looking for a best possible solution.

I understand this is not the outcome you would prefer, I got your back! I’ll document here all the things we have done and make sure this will be heard and taken care of. So that our Apple Engineer might review our case and use this for future reference to prevent your concern to continue to happen. Okay?

My 15 PM is working better now. I had already reset everything on my Deco M4 mesh network (2.4/ 5ghz), but I did it again and it's working better now. Using old iphone on personal hotspot works better than it did on my 12 PM too. No VPN. Decos are old M4 and I have 9 of them around the property. Seems to work as well as my 12 PM now. 🤷‍♂️ Not using wifi 6 yet though, hopefully by the time I upgrade mesh network it'll be sorted out.

Just picked up a new iPhone 15 Pro Max today and same thing. Landed here after googling “iPhone 15 WiFi issues.” My wifi doesn’t work on my new phone, my old iPhone XR works just fine with my wifi, same as all the other devices I have connected to my WiFi. I had to turn off the WiFi on my phone altogether and use my cellular data which isn’t great where I live. I’ve seen people messing with their router settings which I’m not about to start doing given everything else works just fine including my previous iPhone. Considering returning the phone back to Apple.

Not sure if it will be fixable via a software update (most likely), but I found that my iPhone 15 Pro Max likes some WiFi’s and dislikes others, such as the one I have at home. Much like you, all other devices connected to my home's WiFi do just fine except the iPhone 15 Pro Max. It doesn’t work no matter what I do. I have now gone to a bunch of different places with different WiFi’s and to my surprise some work just fine while others won’t work at all. I have no idea why some work and some don’t. I also have an appointment with Apple in store and I am considering returning the phone. I’ll buy it again when and if they fix the problem.

Unfortunately i have been reporting this issue since September 23rd( the day after I got mine) and still a couple days ago when i spoke to a senior agent they said they had no idea when a fix would be available. Quite honestly, it took them a couple weeks to stop telling me to buy a newer router. All they can tell me is they are collecting logs.

I am also experiencing this on 6 GHz. WIFI.

*Specific information

Phone: IPhone 15 Pro Max

Software: IOS 17.0.3

Gateway: XB8-T wireless gateway

*Issue

It shows me as connected to the WIFI gateway but no connection to internet.

If I reboot the gateway it will for for a while but stops working randomly. All other devices connected to the same gateway are working perfectly.

You are absolutely right, most people wouldn’t know where to start to fix this issue. I’ve tried every “solution” provided here and nothing. I upgraded from the iPhone XR and that phone worked and still works flawlessly with my WiFi. I also didn't transfer any data from my iPhone XR to my iPhone 15 Pro Max, I set it up as a brand new phone. I’ve contacted Apple support and they didn’t have a clue on how to help me. They asked me to bring it to the store for troubleshooting but I already know that’s a waste of my time. If I go to the store I’m just going to return it until they fix the problem. I did get a call from someone at Apple today that’s “interested” in my WiFi problems and would like to gather some data from me—we have all become part of an Apple experiment now. Not the experience I was looking for after dumping over $1,000 on this new phone, at least my old XR works without any issues.

I was with you in the first round of log collecting - they told me something similar but he did indicate that he would keep me posted on anything specific regarding releases / fixes but it would have to be already public.

I am also with you here - I am running the new router (as I am sure you saw) and it is actually working at 6E speeds but it has to be on its own dedicated ssid with no other devices connected. I wonder what your opinion is on switching to the 15 pro which doesn't seem to have this issue at all. I am kicking that back and forth as I am running up against the return / swap window.

I also had a 13 pro max and it was pretty bulletproof but now that I pick up the new one next to it I like the lighter weight, screen brightness outside, and the usb-c of course. Frustrating to be in this position after a month although I understand they have a lot of issues to work out.

Update: My 15 Pro Max is still working great so far. Just got off the phone with Apple support and it was a cool experience sharing the screen and explaining what happened in detail. The support agent was very good. I finally had some time to do that and they happened to call at the prefect time. My frustration is gone now because everything is working so that helps. But next time I try to make changes to my mesh network from the 15 Pro Max Deco app while also using the wifi network simultaneously, if it does not work again I'll call them so the can collect logs and maybe that will help them figure it out. I just hope it's a software issue and not a hardware issue, or maybe a hardware issue that can be fixed/ patched with software updates (kinda like the Hubble Space Telescope mirror). Overall this a great phone and wifi works great for me now, but I don't have wifi 6.

Please check later about the VPN , every guy from apple said that but after that the problem return , I have No vpn and default configs and this junk still bouncing between networks is not acceptable, as many users said I have an 14pro max and 12 both with vpn an working fine, I will have a session with support today and I will keep you posted what ends here , I bought the iPhone since the launch and on 1 day install vpn and same mirror config as my 12 and 14 and was working fine and suddenly this 15 pro max junk starts bouncing between ( celular and WiFi)

I've just updated to iOS 17.1 and the issue is still not fixed for me. I still cannot connect to my 5ghz wifi from my main router. However I can connect to a 5ghz wifi if I use a range extender, which is what I've been doing since I got the phone on launch day.

I can't believe this issue hasn't been prioritized. I'm guessing most people connect to their 2.4ghz, which doesn't seem to have any issues. Can we start bombarding the writers of tech news site like MacRumors, 9to5Mac, The Verge so this gets some more coverage? Or even start emailing Tim Apple himself.
