iPhone 15 Pro Max Wi-Fi Issues

I Hope apple or others can help me out - I’m having issues with WiFi on the IPhone 15 Pro Max

myself and others are having issues with using WiFi and 160hz - many have raised issues on Reddit posts - some cannot connect to there WiFi at all and others can connect like myself but have random issues with no internet from time to time

Mines working on 5GHz 160hz, but sometimes I’ll just have no internet connection (it’s still connected to the WiFi) - I have to disconnect from the WiFi and connect again for it to work.

I’m using ASUS RT-AX82U - 5GHz allowed Upto 160hz - I’m running 1gig internet so last thing I want to do is try running at 80hz as I’ll loose speed

When it does work it works great 😊

PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP APPLE

I've got a fix!!! This was frustrating me to no end. Went to Apple store and talked with one of the experienced techs. He said the issue is the iPhone when you import from an old iPhone imports non-ideal network settings, not just your old iPhone passwords. Fix is below.

Network -> General -> Transfer or Reset iPhone -> Reset Network Settings

Wifi has been working like a charm since I did this. Read about this for hours and never saw this suggested anywhere else so figured I'd contribute.

I’m on my second iPhone 15 Pro Max. The first one wouldn’t set up properly and had the connectivity issues as described in this thread. Verizon replaced it for me. I have my new 15 Pro Max, and it started well. But I’m again having the same connectivity issues — unable to connect to wifi, connected to 5G but apps don’t pull data through.

It’s maddening.

I think I’m close to figuring it out, it dropped again, and I dug into the logs from my router and I can see it going through a channel change, but the iPhone 15 Pro Max does not properly acknowledge that change and transition to the new channel. It just loses the connection entirely. I’ve had it happen on times where there are no channel change, so I’m starting to think that there is something wrong with the phones that they are not able to properly handle steering requests in general. So having channels set to auto and/or having a multi-band setup will likely cause this issue. I’d be curious to see if anybody is having an issue where those conditions are not met, meaning you have a static channel and only one 5GHz band.

This is truly the worst phone I have ever owned. Bought the top of the line pro max. Randomly dropping away from cell connection, messages of. ‘No internet connection’ and certain apps won’t work. Had to install NordVPN three times before it worked for example. Always been an ‘Apple guy’ but seriously considering going android. Battery life also sucks.

For those that have been in contact with Apple, have they provided any details on how this will be or if it can be resolved? I rely heavily on my wifi in order to use my iPhone 15 Pro Max from home. The cellular service in my area is inconsistent. Not being able to keep a regular connection to the internet is maddening. I connect to my service providers wifi modem (Bell Homehub 3000 in Canada).

$2000 on a iPhone I can't use might have me second guessing continuing my regular use of apple products & I own them all, laptop, iPad, iPhone, watch, etc.

Any tips or assistance would be appreciated.

I'm using 6E and experiencing the iPhone 15 Pro Max not only dropping my home WiFi, but also forgets the network's password, as if something in the config has changed.

It knows and recognizes the network, but I have to re-enter the password to re-join.

I'm currently cycling through all of the 6 GHz channels to see if it's noise-related, but based on what I'm seeing here, I'm doubting it.

Hoping Apple finds a fix for this soon.

In most circumstances, 160 MHz bandwidth is going to be prone to interference and is going to have issues unless you live in an area where there is no other 5 GHz band traffic as it eats up the equivalent of eight normal 5 GHz channels.

Here's a good backgrounder from a third-party site.

Also make sure you have the most recent firmware available for it installed:

Your 11 Pro Max never had this issue as the 15 Pro is the first iPhone to support 160 MHz wide channels, so it would be the first to notice if there is interference or if there are other issues with 160 MHz channels in the router's firmware.

I've seen a couple of people post my issue: I have no problems connecting to wifi with TP-Link Deco with three nodes at 160mhz and I get very good speeds. I also have no problems connecting at 80mhz when I forced the network to use that. However, whenever I move between nodes, ie move around the house, I get booted from the network, and whenever I leave the house, and come back, the same occurs. It really just has troubles with reconnecting to the network, in whatever form that may be, and forces me to sign back into the network, password and all, despite it recognizing it should be signed in already. If Apple engineers want to grab some logs from my phone I'd be up for it, I'm a software dev so I should be tech literate enough to help out in that regard.

Turning off VPN is not the solution. We never have used a VPN and still have the same issues as many others. My 5ghz bandwidth only goes up to 80hz so that is not the solution either to turn of 160hz.

We have updated our iPhone 15 devices to iOS 17.1 and we still have the same issues. So use of a VPN or 160hz bandwidth is not the sole reason for these issues because we use neither. All other Apple devices in our house are on the latest software and don't have internet or data issues. It is specific to iPhone 15 devices.

Same problem, brand new 15 Pro Max with an Orbi router system. Had no problems w my old iPhone 12 Pro Max, now I have to restart wifi constantly to restore internet. Worst thing is, I don't know it's disconnected until i try to do something internet-related on my phone, so I'm missing mail and like items. I rely on my phone for work, so unless Apple responds within this week, the phone is going back and I'm buying a much less expensive iPhone 14.
