iPhone 15 Pro Max Wi-Fi Issues

I Hope apple or others can help me out - I’m having issues with WiFi on the IPhone 15 Pro Max

myself and others are having issues with using WiFi and 160hz - many have raised issues on Reddit posts - some cannot connect to there WiFi at all and others can connect like myself but have random issues with no internet from time to time

Mines working on 5GHz 160hz, but sometimes I’ll just have no internet connection (it’s still connected to the WiFi) - I have to disconnect from the WiFi and connect again for it to work.

I’m using ASUS RT-AX82U - 5GHz allowed Upto 160hz - I’m running 1gig internet so last thing I want to do is try running at 80hz as I’ll loose speed

When it does work it works great 😊

PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP APPLE

I've got a fix!!! This was frustrating me to no end. Went to Apple store and talked with one of the experienced techs. He said the issue is the iPhone when you import from an old iPhone imports non-ideal network settings, not just your old iPhone passwords. Fix is below.

Network -> General -> Transfer or Reset iPhone -> Reset Network Settings

Wifi has been working like a charm since I did this. Read about this for hours and never saw this suggested anywhere else so figured I'd contribute.

Found a solution which has created other problems for me.. I have Xfinity, and was able to go into the Xfinity app, WiFi settings, and turn my security mode to ‘WPA3-Personal’ instead of ‘WPA3-Personal Transition.’

This has fixed my issue with the 6E WiFi holding steady on my phone from room to room but now my older devices, such as smart plugs, and google assistant are unable to connect unless revert my settings back to Personal Transition mode through Xfinity..

I’m certainly no expert on any of this and it’s driving me mad.

I hope this is related, but my new iPhone 15 Pro Max would not connect to Wi-Fi no matter what I tried. I called Apple support and we did Screen Sharing and after trying different things with no luck, she connected me directly with a manager. She was very knowledgeable and noticed I had a VPN app. She told me to delete the VPN app and immediately after I did I got my Wi-Fi signal on. There was a conflict with the VPN app, maybe it needs an update.

Very, very helpful Apple support.

I’m facing the same problem, just updated to iOS 17.0.3 on iPhone 15 Pro and the issue still seems to persist.

I’m using Asus RT-AX86U router with 5GHz enabled up to 160MHz channel bandwidth. However turning off the 160MHz option didn’t seem to fix the issue earlier and even if it did I cannot change router settings in every place I go.

As long as I’m connected to the WiFi ito works great but when I disconnect and reconnect it manually or when I go out of range and then reconnect automatically I loose connection to the internet while connected to the WiFi.

My quickest fix for that right now is to Turn off the WiFi > turn off the cellular data > turn on the WiFi > turn on the cellular data, then as long as I’m connected it works perfectly.

I’m in the same boat as you and also fully engaged with Apple trying to collect logs. The gentleman I’m working with told me last night the “unofficial” response is that customers need to get a different router. He acknowledged that this is an unreasonable thing to ask but that’s the “unofficial” solution for those having problems at the moment. I’m getting another call back today from him to go over a few more things. The bottom line is I have successfully connected to plenty of WiFi’s outside of my home and I have also encountered plenty that don’t work. My previous iPhone XR connected to any WiFi I threw at it. My WiFi at home doesn’t work at all with my iPhone 15 Pro Max and I refuse to buy another one. It’s plenty good and fast for everything I need so I as stated before, I may just return the phone to Apple while I still can until they resolve it. I’m currently carrying two phones with me throughout the house now, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is connected to my carrier so I use that for phone calls and my iPhone XR I use for anything Internet related. My carrier signal at home works fine for phone calls but doesn’t work for internet. So I’m having to carry both phones. Ridiculous. My wife walks by me with her perfectly functional iPhone 13 Pro Max and makes fun of me every time. It’s a joke around the house now especially because I was bragging about getting the new iPhone.

I’m having the same issue with my 15 Pro Max on iOS 17.0.3. I have the xFi Gateway latest model and 1.2GBPS package. All other devices: iPads, Apple TV, iPhone 14 Pro Max have zero issues with the network. Multiple times a day I lose a connection, won’t get iMessages, won’t send iMessages, won’t update apps and mail says ‘no connection’.

To be fair, I have really poor cellular service on AT&T in an urban area down a hill (usually 1 bar). The WiFi should not be impacted by this, however. Not sure what to do, reset the router, restored the device as new to no resolve. Hoping iOS 17.1 maybe has a fix as it appears to be a software issue. The speed and ping is terrible, we are talking slower than 56k dialup, lots of jitter. It did not start for me until ios 17.0.3 was released. I had the ios 17 beta all summer, but that was on the iphone 14 Pro Max, so it seems specific to the 15 models for some reason. Contacting both Apple and Xfinity and exhausted all steps. Did some DNS and configuration work on the modem in advanced settings as well.

Same issue here on iPhone 15 pro with iOS 17.1

the only solution is to put airport mode on and off.

Resetting network settings or resetting phone didn’t help. Most of the time is happening when I’m back home. Even resetting router doesn’t do anything. This is happening on all private networks at home, friends or family.

On my older iPhones working fine with latest firmware.

Hey. I have the same set up with two pods to extend. Temporary fix is to set up a guest network and log on to that with phone. It sucks for airplay and connecting to other devices (being on a separate network) but you'll have internet access. I think it has to do with either 1) the use of pods and moving from hub to pods or 2) the frequencies being transmitted and the hardware of the new phone or possibly both 2 and 3.

I setup a new TP-link axe5400 mesh system. WiFi 6E. Worked great for a day. I am getting “unable to join” errors on 2.4&5Ghz and 6Ghz networks. This is on brand new iphone15 Pro which was migrated from a iPhone 12. I tried the 80Mhz downgrade and the guest network. They worked.

I went ahead a reset all network connections. Changed the network back to 160 MHz and am now connected.

let’s see how long it lasts. I’ll leave 6Ghz off for now.

All troubleshooting steps listed in best order, stop between each and see if the problem is solved:

  1. Settings > General > Software Update, apply any available update
  2. Remove any and all VPNs and VPN apps
  3. Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings, then reconnect
  4. Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options > Data Mode, set to Standard
  5. Settings > WiFi > Select i next to Wifi network, disable Private Addressing
  6. Settings > WiFi > Select i next to Wifi network, disable Wi-Fi 6E mode
  7. Settings > (Your Name) > iCloud > Passwords & Keychain, disable Sync this iPhone

But yeah, IMO this is more of an Apple problem. Wi-Fi APs aren't perfect, but compatibility is not just about adhering to a standard but testing the dickens out of multiple products to see if your device actually plays well in the real world.

Oh and my work wi-fi still drops out on iOS 17.2.1, after doing all of the above. Aruba WAPs on a controller, recently upgraded to new WAPs.
